"Quaint little place right in the heart of Lahaina"
We stayed for one night after our flight before moving to our timeshare property. We chose the property for the great price and the great location. It is the perfect spot for exploring Lahaina. It's right in the middle of town with lots of restaurant selections adjacent and it's within a block or so of the activity starting points. This is definitely a vintage hotel so if you're looking for modern accommodations with all the amenities this will not fit the bill. There are stairs to navigate and I didn't see an elevator and the parking is in a lot off the property. The rooms are small, but cozy and clean and they have great lanais for watching the activities. The woman at the front desk could not have been nicer and more helpful.

These are nice condos in a very good location. Just a couple blocks to Front Street, which we really enjoyed. The pools are small but nice as well. We had a two bedroom and the beds were very comfortable and the two bathrooms big and clean. The mattress on the fold out couch was bad, but we didn't need it. Also there is an additional cleaning fee of $175 that we didn't know about.

"Excellent Place to Relax on The Beach"
We thought the room was amazing. Beautiful devor and comfy bed. It had a fully stocked kitchen, so if you choose to eat in you had all the tools to do so. When we walked out the lanai door, we were close to the pool, and within 100' of the beach. The pool was beautiful, well maintained and refreshing. There were two pools and hot tubs. The pool colse to us adjoined the Castaway cafe. The Castaway Cafe, had a great selection and quality of food, an amazing wine selection, an excellent staff, and it was perfectly located on the beach so we could watch the whales playing and breaching in the bay in the day time, or enjoy the peaceful crashing of waves at night. The beach was amazing, and there was a shack where you could rent snorkel gear, paddle boards, beach cabanas, etc. Overall we loved the experience and are already planning on going back.

"Very conveniently located condo close to the beach"
We were very pleased with our condo in Kihei- Akahi. The location was perfect close to the beach but off the main road. Was quiet at night and never a concern about security. The location on the island was ideal as well because it is the sunniest and hottest part of Maui. Central to the island as well and easy to get to tourist attractions. Every one was so friendly at the condo office as well as visitors around us and the local people. We would definitely come back again.

"Nice location, on beach with multiple pools. "
Room was dirty when we came checked in. Bed sheets were wet with yellow stains on it. They came and changed sheets but had no explanation why they were wet. Room was dated, carpet was filthy. Every other day room service was useless. Only provided clean towels. Our room was not vacuumed once in the two weeks we stayed there. Minimal kitchen supplies in our unit.

Pocket Guide: Historic Hotels in Maui Island

    Historic Hotels on Maui Island

From battle fields and ancient burial sites to restored missionary houses and cultural museums, there are plenty of historic attractions on Maui Island. Island culture and tradition is prominent throughout Maui’s charming historic hotels as a Hawaiian-style decor features throughout to give a true taste of island life.

Historic hotels place you just minutes from some of Maui’s culturally significant sites. Many of Maui’s historic hotels are in Lahaina, the one-time capital of Hawaii and, before that, home to Maui royalty. Head to Front Street, one of America’s top ten greatest streets, to step back in time.

Once also the wealthy centre of the global whaling industry, Lahaina is now the best place to hop on a whale-watching boat trip to see the humpbacks in their natural habitat before heading back to Whalers Village for lunch or lei-making lesson.

What to Expect from Maui’s Historic Hotels

Some of Maui’s historic hotels help you settle in with island orientation upon arrival, when they will also explain the historic significance of the hotel you’re staying in. Traditionally designed rooms feature plenty of modern conveniences including flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers and MP3 docks.

Family-friendly historic hotels offer kids a variety of traditional Hawaiian activities including poi making. And in the restaurants, you can choose local dishes handed down through generations, then after dinner, catch a hula show or unwind with a treatment in the spa facilities.

    Explore Historic Maui

Take the popular drive down the Road to Hana to the historic town of Hana. Visit the Hana Cultural Center and Museum to see artefacts and artwork from ancient Hawaii. Closely associated with the first missionaries to permanently settle on Maui, Hana’s Wananalua Congregational Church dates back to the 19th century and is one of the few churches that holds services in both Hawaiian and English.

Hike through the Iao Valley State Park to reach the site of the Battle of Kepaniwai, where King Kamehameha fought Maui’s warriors to win and unify the Hawaiian Islands in 1790.

Explore the island’s long history by using one of Maui’s historic hotels as a base, to really help you step back in time.
