"Nice hotel on the harbour"
We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The attached restaurant prices were some of the best in town, and the food was good for what you paid. Rooms were nice and clean, and the location was great.

"Close to everything"
Nice time but stayed here 6 times and it was very noisy this time. Many children in early March when we thought they would be in school. They were great kids but always the pool was crowded. Also noise from parties near our condo late at night, foul language and glass breaking. Never had that before. Still, facilities are beautiful and in Lahaina, love the location.

"Exceeded My Expectations"
When I arrived, I was welcomed at the front desk. They were very informative on some details about the resort. I was extremely pleased when I opened up the door to our room. sometimes when you see pictures online you think, they've used a wide-angle lens, it's not going to look that good. The room looked exactly like the pictures. I was extremely pleased!

We walked on the beach, relaxed on the lanai, and had a great dinner at the Hana ranch. It was a perfect stopping point on our trip around the island. We were traveling with our adult son, and the one bedroom unit worked perfectly. It was made up and ready for three people which was great.

Humpback whales paraded past, the island of Lanai rose across the quiet sea, a reef broke the waves as paddle boarders and surfers enjoyed their choice of calm waters inside the reef or the waves breaking on the reef, the sand was soft between the toes, the colors of sunset were visible from the grass lawn around the pool & hot tub with the scent of plumeria and other flowers gracing the air as birds darted past. Sunrise from the mountain side was spectacular as the sun melted the mist and created rainbows, within easy walking distance to the Banyon Tree and downtown Lahaina -- great food right next door - we like Bette's . . . Thank you for your Aloha Spirit, the staff were amazing and kind. Our room was perfect, it was all new, full kitchen, large bathroom with every amenity. Thank you.

"Great condo facing the bay, great location & staff"
If you are looking for a nice condo for base camp, Unit 501 was just what you need and nothing more. If you are the low maintenance type and not looking to stay in a resort, this is a great location. Easy in and out, secure and safe, friendly neighbors, centrally located to restaurants, grocery stores and beach gear rentals. The highlights for us was this is on the 5th floor facing the ocean. It was the first week of March 2017 and the humpback whales were in the bay playing all week, from the balcony you can see them every day. We had binoculars and that allowed us to see them up close while having coffee or an evening beer. The sunsets are amazing as well since it faces west. Food trucks in the area have really good food (go find the coconut shrimp) and reasonable prices, you can walk everywhere. It is easy in and out. We spent a day up at Haleakala National Park, the sunrise from the East is not to be missed, the road to Hana is a solid full day trip and has great waterfall hiking, the West Maui mountains are also great hiking and beach is every where around you. Laihana is a bit more upscale, but great shopping and high end dining, only about 40 minuets away. We did a snorkeling and snuba trip to the Malokai crater and the harbor was only a 10 minute drive away. Snorkeling at Kam 2 beach by the rocks was amazing, even with low visibility in the water (there was a lot of rain washing into the ocean) we still saw 3 sea turtles, a nice reef, easy access from Kam3

Pocket Guide: Historic Hotels in Maui

    Historic Hotels on Maui Island

From battle fields and ancient burial sites to restored missionary houses and cultural museums, there are plenty of historic attractions on Maui Island. Island culture and tradition is prominent throughout Maui’s charming historic hotels as a Hawaiian-style decor features throughout to give a true taste of island life.

Historic hotels place you just minutes from some of Maui’s culturally significant sites. Many of Maui’s historic hotels are in Lahaina, the one-time capital of Hawaii and, before that, home to Maui royalty. Head to Front Street, one of America’s top ten greatest streets, to step back in time.

Once also the wealthy centre of the global whaling industry, Lahaina is now the best place to hop on a whale-watching boat trip to see the humpbacks in their natural habitat before heading back to Whalers Village for lunch or lei-making lesson.

What to Expect from Maui’s Historic Hotels

Some of Maui’s historic hotels help you settle in with island orientation upon arrival, when they will also explain the historic significance of the hotel you’re staying in. Traditionally designed rooms feature plenty of modern conveniences including flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers and MP3 docks.

Family-friendly historic hotels offer kids a variety of traditional Hawaiian activities including poi making. And in the restaurants, you can choose local dishes handed down through generations, then after dinner, catch a hula show or unwind with a treatment in the spa facilities.

    Explore Historic Maui

Take the popular drive down the Road to Hana to the historic town of Hana. Visit the Hana Cultural Center and Museum to see artefacts and artwork from ancient Hawaii. Closely associated with the first missionaries to permanently settle on Maui, Hana’s Wananalua Congregational Church dates back to the 19th century and is one of the few churches that holds services in both Hawaiian and English.

Hike through the Iao Valley State Park to reach the site of the Battle of Kepaniwai, where King Kamehameha fought Maui’s warriors to win and unify the Hawaiian Islands in 1790.

Explore the island’s long history by using one of Maui’s historic hotels as a base, to really help you step back in time.
