"Beautiful and close to everything "
Grounds were beautiful and breakfast (included) and dinner were tasty. We were too busy to take part in the yoga but the facilities looked perfect. Rooms were nice and the porch just right to relax on in the afternoon. Pool was nice and hot tub just what was needed after a long hike. The second bed slightly small for two teenagers but otherwise a lovely stay - would come again.

"Gorgeous place, great hosts!"
This place is a little piece of paradise! We stayed here for 5 nights and could not have chosen a better place to end our honeymoon in Hawaii. The facility is simply beautiful, quiet and perfect for a relax vacation. It is located conveniently close to nice beaches and attractions and is easy to get in and out. Dan and Amy are amazing hosts and they make sure that you're enjoying your stay at all times while making sure you've got everything you need. They made us feel like home away from home. We will be back and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

"Exceptional stay in a gorgeous location"
What a tremendous property! We were truly thrilled with the amazing quality of this condo, amazing location & tremendous views. We have stayed at most of the hotels along Wailea beach & this was out of this world & we will only be staying here from now on. The condo was beautifully decorated, had lovely upscale finishes, everything you could ever want in a vacation home or hotel, excellent location, and views for days. Staff was very attentive, professional, let you enjoy the serenity this place had to offer, but also seemed to know what you needed before you even did. We will definitely be back!

"A very nice quiet,relaxed atmosphere."
There were turtles on the beach.A bonus was listening to someone playing the ukulele all evening, very soothing, sitting on the lanai, looking at the ocean and listening to the sounds of the ocean waves.

"Quaint little place right in the heart of Lahaina"
We stayed for one night after our flight before moving to our timeshare property. We chose the property for the great price and the great location. It is the perfect spot for exploring Lahaina. It's right in the middle of town with lots of restaurant selections adjacent and it's within a block or so of the activity starting points. This is definitely a vintage hotel so if you're looking for modern accommodations with all the amenities this will not fit the bill. There are stairs to navigate and I didn't see an elevator and the parking is in a lot off the property. The rooms are small, but cozy and clean and they have great lanais for watching the activities. The woman at the front desk could not have been nicer and more helpful.

"Perfect stay for our honeymoon"
The hotel is nicely decorated and the staff is friendly. The rooms are spacious and kept in good condition. The rooms and the lobby were kept clean. The concierge was helpful in arranging activities and providing information. The hotel is located in walking distance to restaurants, a drug store and of course the beach. The only thing that I would recommend would be for vents to be installed in the bathrooms for air to circulate during and after you shower.

"Laid back Hawaii"
This is a no frills establishment meant in the most positive way - very low key with an amazing Aloha spirit. I met staff members who have worked here for 40+ years. If you want high tech glitz this is not for you. I have and always will want to experience the true Hawaiian experience and The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is it. Plus it's in a great location (next door) to The Whaler's Village (shopping mall with a small but great food court to help stretch your $) and easy $2 bus stop ride to Lahaina. For $10/2 hrs rent snorkeling gear and walk down the beach to Black Rock for some pretty amazing under water interactions. You will easily pay double at any other hotel for what you will pay here. But if you want to stay in a $400+ room, then so be it. I will take my slightly rough around the edges KBH room and thoroughly enjoy the resort grounds, the friendly staff, the nightly comp Hawaiian entertainment, and proximity to local delights. ALOHA! 🌞🍹🌴

"Excellent location and service"
We stayed 11 days at Kapalua's Ritz Carlton during Christmas time. The weather is near perfect (13 in of rain / year, temperature always between 72 and 78). Some highlights of our stay: snorkeling at the Kapalua Bay beach and the Honolua Bay beach, both within a few minutes drive. The game room was open during the season with billiards and Wii games, a good way to take a break while doing (complimentary) laundry or enjoying a morning drink at the Aina market located on premise (cheaper than the $40 buffer breakfast). The pools are typical of the Ritz, with two sections reserved to Adults. Everybody scampers off at 5pm somehow but you still can enjoy the pools late at night. The food was not a highlight, we tried everything and kept being underwhelmed - i.e. the onsite restaurants are fine if outrageously pricey, but in no way memorable. The service staff was uniformly excellent - friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the beach right outside of the hotel, although the waves were exceedingly strong and the flags were red most of the time. Shuffle board and bocce, tennis and basketball, lots of hammocks, the coast trail passing through - lots of good times.

Pocket Guide: Design Hotels in Maui Island

    Design Hotels on Maui Island:

Maui Island’s design hotels range from comfortable mid-range accommodation to upscale all-inclusive resorts, all of which showcase chic interiors throughout. Traditional Hawaiian themes feature in many of Maui’s design hotels to create comfortable and homely guestrooms. As well as paying plenty of attention to the finer details, Maui’s design hotels also offer a great range of practical features.

What to Expect from Maui’s Design Hotels

Take a dip in outdoor pools surrounded by well-kept tropical gardens or unwind with a treatment in onsite spa facilities. Hotel restaurants serve Hawaiian specialties, and bartenders at the poolside bars mix up fantastic cocktails.

As well as thoughtful touches such as minibars and coffeemakers, you can rely on there being free WiFi, flat-screen TV and hairdryer in your room.

Where to Stay for Design on Maui Island

For pristine beaches and renowned golf courses, pick a design hotel in the upscale resort area of Wailea. The area hosts many of Maui Island’s annual festivals, including the Maui Film Festival in June.

There’s plenty more beaches and design hotels in West Maui, especially in the resort area of Kaanapali. Head to Kaanapali Beach for all the action and perfect conditions for surfing and paddle boarding. Grab a refreshing beer in one of the many bars that line the sand, or head to the nearby Whalers Village for places to eat, fashion shops and traditional Hawaiian performances.

    Maui Island Culture

Situated in central Kahului, the Maui Arts and Cultural Center showcases the island’s culture with theatre shows, live music concerts and traditional island dance performances. Take the drive down the Road to Hana and stop off at the Hana Coast Gallery to see a variety of work on display by local artists.

    Discover Maui Island’s History

Visit Wailuku’s Bailey House Museum to discover what life was like for the missionaries who arrived in Maui in the 19th century. Housed in Hawaii’s only working sugar mill, the Alexander and Baldwin Sugar Museum looks at the impact of the sugar industry on the island.

At the end of your day exploring Maui’s design culture, relax in your design-centric hotel room on your furnished lanai or your deep-soaking bathtub.
