La Chiocciola is a recently renovated villa, very convenient for its proximity (about 300 m) to the most beautiful beaches and the beaches of the Marina del Cantone bay where there are also excellent restaurants. The internal staircase in the garden of the villa allows you to access the nearest beach club in less than 5 minutes. The villa was designed in the early 1960s by two famous Italian architects and, with its stone walls, ecological design and innovative shape, marked a turning point in residential architecture. Its spacious half-moon lounge opens onto a terrace that embraces the entire bay. Nerano and its Marina del Cantone are inserted in the protected marine reserve of Punta Campanella which has been bearing the blue flag for decades. La Chiocciola is an excellent base for relaxing holidays and with the possibility of daily excursions both by car and by boat to all the main attractions of the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi coast: Naples 60 km, Pompeii 40 km, Sorrento 15 km, Positano 25 km, Ravello 40 km, Amalfi 30 km and the island of Capri 4 nautical miles. It is also possible to hike along the numerous paths that characterize the area and identified by the CAI (Italian Alpine Club). Medium difficulty excursions that allow you to reach the splendid Bay of Ieranto (in the middle of the marine park and protected by FAI) and Punta Campanella are particularly recommended. The bus stop that connects all the areas of interest of the Sorrento peninsula is immediately in front of the parking lot of the villa. The villa is inserted in a Mediterranean garden among olive and pine trees. The villa welcomes up to a maximum of 6 people and a medium-sized pet is welcome. It has free private parking. Two flights of stairs (24 steps) cross the garden and lead to the independent entrance. The property is distributed on two levels: the first level (about 50sqm) has two bedrooms, furnished with all comforts, one with a King size bed and an ensuite bathroom, the second with a Queen size bed and a bathroom adjacent. Both bathrooms have bidets and showers. There is also a laundry area with washing machine, iron and everything needed to make home management comfortable. The corridor, very panoramic, opens onto the second level (about 50sqm) lounge / dining room which includes a kitchenette equipped with all essential comforts In the lounge you can take advantage of a double sofa bed. The lounge overlooks a splendid terrace which embraces the whole bay. Still from the garden, a private staircase leads to the provincial road and, crossing it, to the nearest beach. The garden and all rooms have a panoramic sea view. The apartment was very clean, comfortable, and more spacious than the photos suggested - we had plenty of room and there are two full bathrooms. The large balcony area is fantastic, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Air conditioning kept the house very comfortable, even in the heat of the day. The road into the area is definitely steep, narrow, and full of very tight turns but we did fine in a Jeep Renegade. There is a parking spot available right off the road that is a bit tight to get into and out of but very nice to have. Once we arrived, we parked the car and did not use it for the remaining days. We had no trouble with the stairs that connect the apartment to the road - most of the places we stayed in Italy were similar. It is worth the extra effort to access a home built into the hillside with an amazing view. Our host, Antonio, was generous with his time and advice, both of which were very much appreciated. At his suggestion, we rented a boat to see the Amalfi Coast from the water, rather than trying to drive to Positano, and it was an amazing day. We made a few other tweaks to our plans based on his advice and it made a huge difference. Antonio also shared tomatoes and apricots from the surrounding gardens, which were amazing. There are a number of restaurants that are walking distance and a great hike right from the house to the beautiful Bay of Ieranto, where you can swim. We definitely recommend la chiocciola if you are visiting the area - it was the perfect start to our vacation. Thank you Antonio for all you added to our stay! ##### amy R.
