Overall great stay. I highly recommend it for either a weekend getaway or traveling to Mason City to work for any extended length of time. I had the pleasure of staying for five nights. Cynthia and The Decker House were wonderful hosts.

Cynthia, the hostess, was most gracious and accommodating. The location was ideal for walking around the downtown area and for proximity to the Music Man Museum. Mason City is filled with little gems.

I'm so glad we chose to stay at the Decker House. Cynthia is just fantastic and the house itself is incredible and very comfortable. It's also really close to museums and places to eat, we walked around all day and didn't even think about getting in the car. Cynthia's breakfast was also really good, I've never had such wonderfully cooked potatoes. Highly recommend.

The Decker House was very beautiful. We enjoyed looking at the woodwork and the lead glass windows. Our hostess, Cynthia was very nice and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay

We stayed in the Magnolia room. It is incredibly spacious and beautifully decorated. The king-sized bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious.

This Bed and Breakfast is a MUST visit, even if it’s for breakfast only! You won’t find a nicer staff, well decorated, or enjoyable room! We can’t wait to go back to Mason City next year so we can stay here again.

Beautiful roomy escape in downtown Mason City.
This was the second time we visited the Decker House. It is such a DELIGHT! It is a wonderful, well kept, beautiful home in the middle of Mason City. Just steps from much going on. Our host was SUPER. She is so friendly. She laughs and everyone wants to smile and laugh too! I look forward to my next stay!

Gorgeous bed and breakfast with very welcoming hostess. The facilities is gorgeous, the woodwork was remarkable and the breakfast was incredible! This is a must see place.

We stayed here because we had a funeral in town. Cynthia was very accommodating, the room was beautiful and comfortable and she made a fantastic breakfast. Would stay there again if we needed to be in the area.

More than we expected!
We had a wonderful overnight stay up in the top floor Magnolia room. After climbing the stairs up the three floors it was a beautiful oasis of calm. Everything had been thought of and the bed and bedding were so super comfortable and cozy. The attached bathroom was gorgeous and definitely take advantage of soaking in a hot bubble bath in the oversized jacuzzi tub. The morning breakfast was perfect with a fresh fruit and muesli over delicious yogurt before our yummy waffles. I wouldn’t just recommend to others, but definitely plan on coming back myself!

The BEST bed and breakfast
Incredible stay. I know it said bed and breakfast but we were blown away by the breakfast and treats that were in a jar by the entrance. Given that it is an old house I was nervous about the cold but it was cozy and warm. Not too hot at all. My only negative is regarding how quiet it is, I felt like I had to whisper in the room because I didn’t want to disturb the peacefulness. If you want a calm, relaxing stay with great food and beautiful architecture, this is the place to be. It was an incredible stay with a great location so everything was walkable. Will definitely be staying again in the future!

This is a nice b & b in downtown Mason City. It's close to everything for walking. The house is a historic building and the rooms are quaint and comfortable. The breakfast is amazing- Cynthia cooked us home made waffles! Cynthia is friendly and available. I would recommend this place.

No person to greet us,note in mail box.room looked nothing like on line.was clean,but dreary.lights dim,no bedside lamps.no instruction on tv.no local programs. Shower was great,hot water. Second floor,not good for elderly. Breakffast was a med.no coffee or tea offered.no one there when we checked out.

I’m so sorry your stay wasn’t better.I had no idea when you were showing up to the inn.I’m sorry I wasn’t there to welcome you.The letter welcome letter in the mailbox is a pretty standard thing for B&Bs since we don’t have a front desk or concierge like a hotel.You booked a room on the second floor and I upgraded you to an even nicer, bigger room on the second floor, I’m sorry it was difficult.The room looked different because of the upgrade.I’m very sorry that I don’t have local programs.I should have offered you more coffee, I’m sorry.When you came in the kitchen and told me you already had a cup, I’m afraid I assumed you had enough.I hope you enjoyed the cranberry juice.I am very sorry your stay wasn’t pleasant, everyone usually enjoys their time in the house.I hope your travels home were safe.

Absolutely fabulous!!! The host was welcoming and very friendly… She made great suggestions for dining!!! Our room was so lovely and upgraded to the room with a private outdoor seating area… Breakfast was wonderful and served beautifully!!! Highly recommend staying here!

There was no check-in process, no front desk, nothing to make you feel welcome. The front door was locked when I arrived, I had to call and the woman said she’d stepped out and she would get someone to open the door. I waited over 10 minutes until a dazed and confused teen in socks opened the door and said nothing while wandering away. I had to call out and ask how to check-in, they didn’t know and had to call someone. After another bit of standing around alone in the front hall the teen came back with a key and said my room was upstairs. That was the only person I saw for my entire stay. No directions to my room, instructions for check in…nothing. It’s old-style physical keys for the rooms which is neat but the doors and locks are old and there is a trick to opening them no one told me about. There was a sign INSIDE my room that said check-in is by appt only and yet when the property texted me the morning of my stay to ask when I would arrive and I said I HOPED to be there between 2-3 (I was coming from 3 hrs away and wasn’t entirely sure), they only replied “check-in is at 3 so that’s oerfect.” That leads one to believe your room will be ready at 3 or later, not “show up at 3:30 and no one will be around.” The room was cute and seemed clean, other than the disconcerting ring that appeared after I used the jacuzzi tub, making me wonder what had been floating in the water with me. Overall it was quiet but so freaking weird that no one was around on a Sat-Sun stay.

Beauty and Charm combo in the Decker House.
Our stay was like a dream come true. This was a very special treat! Such a lovely home in a very interesting area. We were greeted with a warm welcome. And our room was Super! The home could have been in the best national magazine, as far as beauty and character. Our hostess was wonderful. She was well spoken and very educated on the history of the Decker House. Our breakfast was marvelous! It was beautifully presented and very tasty. All and all, the Best Choice we could ever make. We plan to visit again!

We had a wonderful weekend here. The house is beautiful, comfortable and clean. The food was excellent and Cynthia was a wonderful host. It’s close to restaurants, shopping and parks and we could walk to any of it. I highly recommend staying here and hope that I can visit again. Loved it!

Very fun place, there was a delightful mexican resturant in walking distance. Love the sculptures around town. Breakfast was very yummy. Highy reccomend this for a cute weekend get away

Wonderful home with an interesting history located right next to Music Man Square. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and even the morning coffee was delicious. The hostess is an absolute gem. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend The Decker House to friends and family.

We liked everything. The thing that stood out most of all was the outstanding staff. They had to go coffee cups with lids for those of us that were on the go early, and catered to our menu needs as requested.
