A house like no other.
One of the most unique places I’ve ever stayed. Not only is this place historic but it’s a phenomenal experience. We had a fire in the fireplace nearly the whole time. Snow on the ground, frigid temps, but the house was warm thanks to radiant heated floors. Would love to return, Matthew was awesome.

Not as advertized
Listed as 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom. However, 5th bedroom is in separate building and was “unavailable due to weather damage” and we were not told prior to stay. So one member of party had to sleep on couch. Host was not communicative. He did not tell us of lost bedroom, did not provide instructions for check-in/out information without prompting. No written instructions on how to work odd lighting. Odd lighting, due to cool architecture expected but lack of information made what could have been a neat feature a challenge. No hot water in one shower. NO privacy in any bathrooms! All bathrooms except half bath had windows open to outside and dining room (yes, you read correctly dining room!) with no curtains! Oven door did not close, fridge ran too warm (51-57 degrees) and would not turn down due to dirty compressor. Overall needs TLC and a good cleaning. Very cool architecture though. Would make a great day tour but not overnight stay!!

Perfect for the Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiast. Great history, blue prints and an airy wood burning fireplace are just some of the great features this house has to offer, while keeping in mind that it was built in 1953. Host was informative and responsive. We enjoyed our stay!

Mold and Mildew In Home Unsafe
This home is not safe to stay in, there is mold in the master bedroom and master bathroom. I have contacted VRBO stating that the property needs to be taken down until this is addressed. I have close to 20 photos showing the mold. The master bath room also had several broken tiles. Some of our guests had to go to a hotel and not stay in the home. The home had dirty floors upon arrival and there was trash in restroom trash cans. VRBO has canceled my case. I have requested a 50% refund through VRBO. I will not stop until this property has been taken down from this site AND I have recieved atleast 50% of my money back.

An enthusiast weekend
Our group stayed the weekend in this architectural wonder. We are FLW enthusiasts and we are planning on staying in any FLW home that is available to rent. Matthew has graciously opened the home to the public and it was a pleasure to experience the home in its entirety. A little more rustic than we expected, but Matthew is a super responsive host and has made his home comfortable for your stay. One can't help but appreciate the history and architectural elements of this home.

60th birthday getaway
Found this home while researching Midwest FLW properties to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday, and it couldn't have been a more perfect backdrop for the occasion! Matt was a very helpful host from the minute I reached out to him regarding the booking to the minute we left for the weekend. His response times were quick, and we appreciated his recommendations to take advantage of the commercial kitchen in the home and to venture to a nearby town/restaurant for my mom's birthday dinner (Joseph Decuis in Roanoke, IN). Marion is a small town so there was not much to do in the city proper, but we enjoyed walking along the riverfront in Matter Park and hitting the old school roller rink in town. -- And the home couldn't have been more stunning, so we wanted to spend a majority of our time reading by the fireplace and exploring all of the nooks and crannies anyway. The house was clean but not spotless as some of the other comments suggest, but my family is aware that historically/architecturally significant homes such as this one can be hard to maintain. One thing I would note is that the showers were not the most functional (especially for someone taller than Frank Lloyd Wright himself). All that said, we had an unforgettable time at Woodside and would highly recommend it to architecture buffs and to anyone looking for a respite alike!

Needs TLC
The property is a very unique Frank Lloyd Wright in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Marion, IN. Several locals voiced amazement that we had traveled there with relatively few nearby attractions. House was in need of maintenance and a general cleaning. It was neat in appearance and kitchen surfaces were clean, but homeowner store his personal food and wine there and some of the floors were not clean, leading us to question bedding and furniture (somewhat strange...also very unexpected with the $300-400 sanitizing charge we had paid on top of the hefty rental fee ). Outside, rundown fences, walkways, and rotting woodpiles as well as an obvious hole in the roof were not visible in the photos of the property, but definite signs of needed TLC. On the good side, the host returned every text or communication from my wife in record time. Unfortunately, we would NOT recommend this property "as is" for our friends or family.

Sorry u felt that way. The roof has no holes. The cedar gets blown off by the wind and it replaced every year and the actually roof is underneath . The floors are red cement that are 70 yrs old they are supposed to look like old red Leather couch . They are swept everyday with 177 windows and doors they will get dusty . The wood piles are wood that is slowly seasoning all hard woods which takes yrs before it can be used . All the bedding is from RH and is cleaned and made sure it’s in excellent shape . I keep Wine 4 bottles 🤣 for guest if there is a issue I ask them to please drink a bottle . What food maybe some mustard or olives for drinks for renters . If u only knew the amount of maintance that goes into woodside u would be amazed.

Experience what it's like to live in a Frank Lloyd Wright house
It was wonderful spending time in this unique house. For Wright fans, there is a booklet written by the original owner about building the house, along with the blueprints. You get to experience the highs of a Wright house -- the big airy living room with banks of windows, a perfect gathering place for the family -- and the idiosyncrasies, from 1950s-era electric fixtures (state of the art then!), to odd-angled rooms and long, narrow halls. All part of feeling what it's really like to live in such a house. Fortunately the kitchen is much bigger now than what Wright originally designed, and well-furnished. The owner gave us a full tour when we arrived and was happy to share his stories of the house with us. An unforgettable experience.

Frank Lloyd Wright Oasis
If you are a Frank Lloyd Wright fan you wont want to miss this very unique house. My wife and I spent our last nights of a 3 house 25th anniversary FLW tour in the Davis house and we were not disappointed. Upon arriving you feel like you are going into a temple, from outer space! Truly the exterior is something that you have never seen before. The interior is a very unique space that is spread out (very large space) and accommodating for larger groups for sure. The house is nestled into a quiet neighborhood on kind of a corner lot, which makes the house stand out further. A small park is down the road for walks. A whole house sound system made the space that much more enjoyable as we tried to soak up every indoor and outdoor space. Definitely a unique experience.

Cool Frank Lloyd Wright stay
Opportunity to stay in a FLW house was fantastic! The owner provided a 30+ page document written by original owner detailing build process that we enjoyed reading (while checking out the house top to bottom). Only negative is not within owner's control: house is located in small town with not a lot to do. Only suggestion might be to provide a note book with dining options. Quiet and relaxing!

My spouse and I very much enjoyed this beautiful piece of architecture. When we arrived it was dark out and lights were on in the house making it look like a spaceship had just landed. Wonderful anniversary celebration for FLW fans
Beautiful home sitting on a gorgeous large lot in a peaceful neighborhood with lots of privacy. The home has many windows and therefore lovely views of the surroundings; we saw a buck run across the yard one evening near sunset. We enjoyed the fireplace and appreciated the maintenance guy stopping by to offer assistance and show us how to use it. The neighborhood and nearby park that connects to a bike trail along the river provide great places to walk and/or bike ride.

For the historical value
We enjoyed studying the blueprints and tracing the history of the house ...that is why you stay here. The main areas are meant for entertaining and are stunning, the bedrooms are rustic (bathrooms are old and feel dingy) but adequate for a short stay. We’d stay again if it was just the 2 of us and only used the master suite (felt more comfortable) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(5 stars) For the spaceship vibe pictures we took from the road and the large front yard that was perfect for yard games

Tahoe Style Lodging
This rental provided a memorable anniversary getaway. The house is another unique example of the Frank Lloyd Wright vision, design and execution. We spent the first evening simply observing the lines, angles, colors, wood build-ins....and enjoyed the clubhouse dining nearby. The next day, we took in the fresh air of the Mississinawa river walk just minutes away. Care has obviously been taken in the home’s living-area furnishings, decor, home entertainment, and state of the art kitchen. The juxtaposition of the Tim Johnson paintings was quite effective. More attention could be paid to preservation, guest prep, and linens. Overall, we are grateful for the opportunity to have stayed.

Experience living in a piece of art and history!
This was our third FLW property stay and we found it to be a delight. The house was beautiful and well appointed. There were some useful items in the laundry area off the kitchen that we did not discover until the end of our visit that would have been helpful had we had them sooner. Lovely working fireplace, cable tv and internet are a great bonus! The lot is large with wonderful trees and outdoor sitting areas. Lots of books to look through and learn more about the genius of Frank Lloyd Wright. We were pleasantly surprised to find the town of Marion a bit larger than anticipated. Dinner at La Charreada was great. We took a one hour drive to Fort Wayne, which was interesting and ended in an outstanding meal at Baker Street Steak House.

Beautiful but Rough
I want to start this review by plainly stating that we enjoyed our time at this home and would consider staying again. When we arrived at the home the doors were unlocked, after checking with the housekeeper (who arrived after our check in time) we were informed that the doors are never locked and there were no keys. We had to contact the owner for a password but the WiFi was under powered when functional and frequently in operable. We proceeded to walk through the house we were struck with the beauty of the space, soaring ceilings in the main room leading out to the tight (cozy but almost claustrophobic) bedrooms. Unfortunately we were also struck with the heat in the home, temperatures were in the mid 80 degrees outside and for most of the day it was more comfortable on the back deck and porch. We found 4 separate cooling systems in the home unfortunately 3 seemed to be nonfunctional and we discovered late in our stay that the floors were heated and had been left on. (we had been wearing shoes/sandals and couldn't feel the floors themselves.) The home itself was clean, but the detail cleaning had clearly not been done. There was old food sitting out in the kitchen along with personal documents and hygiene items, a number used of glasses sitting throughout the house, the 4 towels in the 5 bathrooms were not clean and the fireplace was full of what appeared to be garbage (thankfully the heat kept that problem out of the way). Overall it felt as though the house had been previously occupied and not cleaned before our arrival, this is a little disappointing considering the above average cleaning fee we were charged. While not a problem for us the fact that a unsecured shotgun was left in the front closet was kind of unsettling. I would suggest that the owner leave a letter of some kind detailing the idiosyncrasies of the home (odd light switches, WiFi details, locations of basic amenities) and look into more thorough housekeeping.

Fantastic experience
It's clear the owner cares for this house a lot! FLW house are complex and that's what makes them fascinating. The changes made to the house such as enlarging the kitchen are practical for the modern age. The kitchen, is beautiful - very industrial-style and perfect for anyone who loves to cook. There is plenty of room for a family or group of people to stay comfortably. The outside deck is perfect for relaxing or grilling. The entire house is in wonderful condition even though the master bath could use a little touch-up. If you're a FLW fan, this house is very close to as-built. You can see all the details Wright is known for and more importantly, experience them! I've been a FLW fan for some time and it was truly the experience of a lifetime to finally stay in one. The owner is also very knowledgeable about this property and FLW in general. He shared his knowledge and was very accommodating to the tons of questions I had. I would absolutely stay here again!

A unique and gracious home
This property is amazing! My husband, two friends, and I (all age 60+) spent a weekend here in January and were thrilled at the chance to live in a Wright-designed home. We were welcomed by the very helpful housekeeper, who showed us around and answered many questions. We spent the weekend discovering the details that make this house special: all of the 60 and 120 degree angles, from the cabinet pulls to the windows; the heated floors in diamond-patterned concrete; the soaring 28' high fireplace chimney; the horizontal banding exaggerating the long hallways. Owners have updated where needed -- the dining room furniture is new and comfortable, the kitchen is modern and fully functional, and is well supplied with small appliances, pots, pans, and tableware. Plenty of wood is provided for the living room fireplace/stove insert and we all relaxed comfortably around the fire. A wine refrigerator is filled with wines available for $50 per bottle. The house is just a few blocks from a lovely park along the river, and there is a holiday light show in the park November to December that would be a great outing. We strongly recommend this house to any adults interested in architecture; the owners have left out many books and resources about the history of the house. We would, however, not recommend it for children and teens however due to some safety issues we have reported to the owner.

Frank LLoyd Wright Home Woodside
It was exciting to stay in such a famous and unique house. The housekeeper came when we arrived and answered any questions we had about the property. The owner was very accommodating and left us treats in the fridge. Though the furniture was stylish and in keeping with the style of the house, because of our arthritic conditions, a couple of us found the low furniture a challenge get in and out of.
