"Good position, not far into the old town"
Slightly disappointed after reading the rave reviews. We had a standard room and it was very small, overlooking the courtyard with outdoor seating for the bar which meant it was quite noisy late at night. The room was a bit tired - blind coming unstitched, small chunk out of the wall, discoloured grout in the bathroom. Liked the decor though.

"Good location, lovely staff, in need of some TLC"
We had a lovely stay at Westbrook Lodge Guest House. The staff are so friendly and helpful and are a big reason for the popularity of the guest house. The guest house could do with some upgrading and improvement, which we were told will be commencing soon. I think this is a great guest house in a superb location. The breakfast was great, big portions and very filling. Overall a very nice stay.

"Stunning hotel... but not much to do around. "
I loved the hotel, but there wasn't much in walking distance, we had to trav by car to places. The beach wasn't great either, and drove 10 minutes to another beach.

    Pocket Guide: Kent Margate Hotels

Margate, one of three major seaside resorts on the Isle of Thanet, is traditionally the most boisterous of the trio. Broadstairs and Ramsgate tend to be slightly more laid back, with a more relaxed and less hectic feel. Day-trippers have been coming to Margate for many decades from nearby conurbations like London, back in early Victorian times arriving by steam boat before the train network reached town. There's a fabulous choice of traditional B&B and guesthouse accommodation in and around Margate, as well as many first-class hotels, so you'll have plenty of places to stay when you visit this delightful old resort.

Stay in a Hotel in Kent for Margate and the Seaside

Margate has a range of fun resorts and fairground rides, making it popular with children and teenagers as well as other groups of visitors. There are also lots of attractions in the surrounding area such as Quex House, a 19th century residence set in exquisite grounds which is a good destination for an afternoon's outing from your Margate hotel or B&B. There's a museum next door with impressive collections of Oriental and African art, and dioramas of wildlife in the tropics. Just to the west of here is a Saxon church, built using what was left of the old Roman settlement of Reculver. Visitors come to see the dramatic Two Sisters towers, which were added to the church in the 12th Century. Because they were useful for sending signals to shipping they were spared proposed demolition in 1809.

Enjoy Attractions in Margate from a Kent Hotel

Other Margate treasures you can explore when you stay nearby at a Kent hotel or guesthouse include the fascinating Powell-Cotton Museum with its Japanese jade objects and African fertility dolls. At the Hornby Visitor Centre you can take a trip down memory lane with Corgi toys, Scalextric tracks and model railways. The Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate showcases contemporary and historical works, and reminds us that the great man himself, JMW Turner, was drawn repeatedly to Margate because of the quality of its natural light and glorious land and seascapes.

Stay at a smart local hotel such as Westbrook Lodge Guest House to enjoy a wonderful break in sunny Margate.
