"Small, cozy, friendly, quiet....we stayed for a month in the jungle of Guanacaste with Gary and his dog, Wally! The pool is wonderfully shady in the afternoons, Gary is a warm and friendly host, helpful and kind. We were looking for someplace near to beaches, great sunsets, and no crowds....meeting the locals, shopping the local markets, etc. This is the perfect spot to just sit back and relax."

"I stayed at Nakanku Lodge from mid January to mid February 2024 accompanied by my little Maltese dog, Lulu. Everything was wonderful! The tropical garden setting was beautiful. I loved the pool and easy proximity to beaches. The outdoor kitchen was so fun as it generated opportunities for community and conversations with other guests. Gary was a super host! Hope to return next winter! Pura vida!"

"Unsure what makes this an eco retreat aside from the fact they ask you to bring your own water bottle to refill with water they provide and there is no hot water for showers. The property has a lot of potential but it felt maybe slightly neglected. There was a lot of debris on the ground, the kitchen area was really dirty and the room had rusty racks and shower curtains that allowed water to spray out all over the floor. "The resort was very clean and organized. The front desk was very helpful. The bartenders were nice but the drinks were very weak definitely ask for double shots in your drinks. The buffet had plenty of options but best to get there early. The pool and beach areas were great but the beach isn't really for swimming. I recommend bringing sunscreen and bug repellent with you the prices were $40. Bring plenty of small bills for tipping and purchases outside the resort. Noone takes torn bills. The resort is is about a mile from town so not a bad walk. We enjoyed our time there and would recommend it."

"We had a fabulous time staying at Ten North in Tamarindo! It was our first time staying in Costa Rica and we so enjoyed how friendly and helpful the staff were. They gave us suggestions for places to eat and tours to go on. Our room was spacious, clean and air conditioned which was a bonus since it was hot and humid! The lovely pool was well maintained and provided an oasis away from activity of the beach. The location was just perfect! We were only minutes from the beach and all of the restaurants and activities yet we were tucked away on a side street, which was generally pretty quiet. We can’t say enough about how special this place is, and I would go back again in a heartbeat!"

There are a few resort cats who we might have renamed while we were there 🐈‍⬛😂 The beach that is not swimmable is gorgeous and we spent a lot of time there . "Ocho is an amazing place. We truly had the best time staying here. The staff goes ABOVE and BEYOND. From the pool to the bungalows it was so well decorated and such a cute place. The breakfast is amazing every morning, The beach is clean. I HIGHLY recommended. Giovanni, Elsa, Nancy, David, we can’t thank you guys enough for making our stay memorable. 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

"Nous avions une chambre avec «cuisine», mais les équipements fournis ne permettent pas vraiment de cuisiner: il y a peu de vaisselle, la cafetière et le grille pain ne donnaient pas envie de s’en servir… Également les photos donnent l’impression d’un établissement pratiquement neuf, alors que ce n’est pas le cas. Point positif: la piscine est un atout majeur pour se rafraîchir au retour de la plage!"
