Maybe the first day starts like this: You sit in the shady patio under orange oleander flowers, blue jacaranda and red bougainvillea, feel the warmth, absorb the scent of the flowers, enjoy your first coffee and plan the day. In the meantime, the children discovered the swimming pool (10x5m) ("Mama, Mama! There are dolphins in the water!“) And the laughter vibrates through the house (\~ 160sqm over 12 rooms, with two fireplaces and a heater for the winter months. Each bathroom has its own toilet and shower). Maybe you first decide to do the shopping and walk the 750m through shady avenues up to the supermarket (Supersol). Or: The car can stay safely on the property, because many supermarkets deliver home beyond a certain purchase value. After the purchases have arrived at home and some are stored in the huge fridge, you decide against lunch at home (the first day is too early to try out the fully equipped kitchen - see picture). So collect the children (now busy playing football in the garden) and stroll comfortably the 350m to the beach where you can choose one of 5 restaurants (see pictures). The restaurants are popular all year round by locals (Spaniards and foreigners). The service is friendly and the selection ranges from fresh fish dishes to Spanish tapas to Italian dishes - plus fresh salad and great Spanish wines. Then the children want to let off steam in the water and all they want now is to lie in the shade and look out to sea. Both are possible. Either now take a digestive walk to the sheltered bays of Puerto Banus (20 minutes on foot - see picture) or you can rent beach chairs and parasols on the San Pedro beach (see picture). Most beaches in the area have showers, toilets and changing facilities. In the late afternoon (it's still hot) and back in the garden, lie under a palm tree (the garden is home to five palm trees) or up on the sun terrace (where bright green budgerigars fly by at eye level), or watch it Children in the swimming pool and maybe at the same time marvel at how the dark blue from the pool develops into a play of colors with purple and red bougainvillea, white and red oleander, yellow and orange roses, cacti (these bloom yellow in June) - and all of that under the light blue summer sky (since 2011 the sun has mostly shone continuously from January to November). Meanwhile, the men sit with a cool beer in front of the 55 inch TV and watch a sports show (we have the normal German-language Free SAT TV channels and a DVD player, which may be suitable for children's DVDs). Everyone has a lot of space here. For the evening planning we have to offer: boutiques, marina, a department store (El Corte Ingles) and countless bars in Puerto Banus (20 minutes walk along the beach or 5 minutes by car). If you skip Puerto Banus and head for Marbella, you can explore the alleys of the old town of Marbella, meet for dinner at Orange Square (Plaza de Naranjas) and then try out the countless wine bars or maybe attend a flamenco performance. Or they stay in the villa and sit outside under the traffic light umbrella - in the background the illuminated palm trees (see picture), the swimming pool and grill delicious fish. Access for guests Our guests have access to the whole villa, the beautiful garden and of course the private pool (10m x 5m - this is cleaned daily in summer). Interaction with guests We greet our guests personally, inaugurate you in the villa. We can be reached by phone at any time, but prefer that the guest contact us if there are any questions. The neighborhood A quiet residential area. The villa is only 350m from the beach and the beach restaurants. The supermarket (standard Spanish 'Super Sol') is only 700m away. The shops of Puerto Banus and Marbella are only 5 to 10 minutes away by car (there are enough parking garages). On Saturdays there is always a market at the bullring near Puerto Banus. Marbella and San Pedro de Alcantara, 2 km away, offer markets during the week where you can also buy groceries. means of transport The bus stop is on the main street (700m away). It takes a few minutes by bus to Puerto Banus and 15 minutes to Marbella. We came as a family for my 30th birthday so a mixture of ages (including 7 month old) area was peaceful but easily access busier areas through the bolt app (around €10 max for us all to get into peurto banus). About 25/30 min walking along the beach to marina. Local supermarket has everything you’d need and about 10 min walk away. Villa itself is lovely, spacious, especially around the pool. You can tell when owners use their property as it was so well equipped. There are 2 very good size double bedrooms and 2 smaller double bedrooms, all with their own ensuite or separate bathroom. The living area is also a great size for a large group. We were very lucky with the weather which enabled us to make full use of the outside space. The gardens are beautiful and were in full colour. The grounds are very secure, so no chance of any child escaping. It is in a quiet area but only a few minutes walk from the front and promenade. We used a car to get to other areas but taxi's are plentiful if needed. Had a great time and would definitely return. ##### Katherine J. We are very happy with our stay. Lots of space to hang out, both inside and outside. The garden is beautiful with lots of flowers and the pool area has plenty of furniture, with both sunbeds, a table for dining and multiple other seating arrangements. For those who prefer to stay inside there is also a dining table and two nice couch areas. The kitchen is worn out but well equipped with all desirable appliances. We especially appreciated the accessibility of some consumables; beyond the obvious such as dish soap and toilet paper there were also for example some spices and cooking oils, some pantry items, detergent and bathroom supplies. This made it easy and comfortable to vacation here. The teenagers who shared the smaller beds would have preferred them bigger, but there was a mattress to put on the floor which solved that issue. Both the beach and grocery store is within walking distance, but we rented a car which was convenient; so we didn’t have to carry the groceries home in the sun and also to go on trips to nearby sights such as Gibraltar and Marbella old town. The hosts of the house showed an interest in us having a good stay. They provided information and were always available in case of questions. We had a great time in Villa Don Carlos. ##### Stina P. The location is excellent - €8 Taxi to Puerta Banus and €13 to Marbella Town but many restaurants and bars available in the local area of San Pedro. The villa was like a family home (which I suppose it is!) but the crowning glory is the pool and surrounding gardens. The incredibly large garden is beautiful, the pool area is fabulous with sunshades, loungers, tables and chairs and lovely night lights. Everything you need for a nice break. The property itself is set within a huge plot of very well maintained gardens and fantastic swimming pool . It also has a roof terrace which we used very often , watching the sun come up and go down . The pictures do not convey the actual size of the garden . Marc and Tracey met us at the property and gave us the guided tour along with any relevant information that was required . Any teething problems that we had were dealt with quickly and efficiently . We spent 10 days at the villa and most days found ourselves lazing about the pool , before exploring further afield at night . Puerta Banus and San Pedro are within walking distance or a short taxi ride . We had our 1 year old with us and he had everything he needed. There is so much space both inside and outside. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and the pool is huge and so inviting on a hot day. You also have lots of shade outside, around the pool and in the gardens. The Villa is very clean and tidy and has everything you need for a week away and the kitchen has everything you need for all types of cooking. We didn’t want to hire a car and the location is so easy that you really don’t need one. You can walk down to the supermarket (who deliver for free if you spend a minimum of 40 Euros) and restaurants and bars are within walking distance. As a family we wanted a peaceful location and the villa delivers on that, you can hear the birds all day and it’s so quiet at night. Marc-Alexander and Tracey helped check us in and gave us a tour of the villa, they were great both before and when we arrived. We were accommodated by 5he owners with an earlier check in on the Saturday which was a very nice welcome. The villa is absolutely lovely, it’s clean, spacious, cool, has everything you need and the pool is a fabulous size and once in didn’t need to be heated. The gardens are lovely, parking and site is secure which makes it so relaxing with children. Is a very short walk to the beach and such a choice of restaurants. We walked every day on the promenade to places very close having snacks and drinks en-route ( nice walk to Porto Banus) Highly recommend this villa and we shall be booking again 😄 We all had a great time and didn’t want to leave.
