The Moso Vanuatu

The Moso Vanuatu

10/10 Excellent
"We had an excellent stay at Moso and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful place to genuinely switch off and experience a little more of Vanuatu. The real highlight was the staff. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, attentive and welcoming, and they contributed enormously to our stay. The waterfront location is superb. Being able to walk straight into the water and snorkel out the front of the resort was fantastic. There’s also a great 2 km walk through the forest to a secluded beach, with more excellent snorkelling when you arrive. We loved that there are no cars on Moso Island. Walking along the tracks, visiting the local villages and meeting the villagers gave us a much better feel for the island. If you get the chance, walk south and visit one of the village kava bars — well worth doing and a memorable part of the experience. Even the limited Wi-Fi, available around reception and the restaurant, became a positive. It made it much easier to put the phone away and properly relax. Moso is a place to slow down, snorkel, walk, explore, meet people and enjoy having nowhere you need to be. We left feeling genuinely relaxed and very glad we chose it."

Erakor Island Resort & Spa

Erakor Island Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"This was our second visit to Erakor Island resort and it will not be the last. Absolutely beautiful place, fantastic staff, Lotty, Sarah, Esther and all the rest in the restaurant and activities hut they cannot do enough for you. We went fishing and caught 2 decent size fish and they prepared and cooked it for us for lunch. The room was clean and beautiful. We had one of the new lagoon view villas. Very modern, previous visit we had the honeymoon villa. Both were magic. The water lapping at the front of your villa you can just walk out and have a swim in the beautiful clear water. But take water shoes as there are sea cucumbers, starfish and sea snakes. They won’t hurt you. Food in the restaurant is sooo good, pretty much what you would pay in Australia. Breakfast is complimentary and there is a buffet fruit and baked goods, yogurt, cereal plus you can have eggs and bacon etc. local coffee is yum. The pool is in a beautiful spot and has a slide for kids. There’s a decent playground for kids and daily activities. Theme nights for the whole family. Kayaks and canoes, snorkelling is great. Sunset beach is quiet and often no one else there. Room is well equipped with glasses fridge plate bottle opener etc. you can WhatsApp for a buggy pick up from your room, but it’s not a big walk to restaurant. 10/10 for this beautiful resort."

Warwick Le Lagon - Vanuatu

8/10 Good
"We were a couple in our 50’s. We had a lagoon view villa, the room was clean, a bit dated. Had a safe, decent water pressure in the shower and a bath. The toilet door did not close and had no lock, weird but a non issue for us. Would have been nice to have wine glasses and bottle opener, maybe a plate and a knife so we could enjoy snack on our deck. But we made do. Has a swim up bar and a few pools. They looked nice but too many screaming kids, we felt should not have been allowed in the bar area. Buffet dinner $35 each was pretty good, lots of variety and themed nights. Buffet breakfast was free with the room, also very good. Enjoyed the fire show. There is a gym and kayaks, snorkelling is great. Take water shoes, you don’t want to step on the starfish or sea cucumber or sea snakes. It would have been nice to have a buggy service to the front gate, it’s far to walk in the heat. The staff were a mixture of helpful and rude. Most appeared to not enjoy their job and a simple request was too much trouble. The property is huge and is great for families and golfers. But not if you would prefer a smaller more intimate location. We enjoyed our stay but would not stay again. 7/10"

"Cannot recommend the resort enough. The owners make you feel so welcome from the continental breakfast every morning to the household dog Rocky the great conversation with the owners. They go out of their way to make to make it feel like home. I found it to be one of the best hotels or resort I’ve stayed at as a single traveler. The rooms is huge & has all of the amenities you would need."

Iririki Island Resort & Spa

Iririki Island Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"The location is ideal, a 2-minute ferry ride to downtown Port Vila. The staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Our bungalow was perfectly positioned #53. We had a view of the mainland and could see part of the pool area and the restaurant, but far enough away that the noise didn't bother us. I love people watching, so the constant flow kept me amused. The buffet breakfast had something for everyone. The restaurant meals were pretty good but the prices have certainly skyrocketed since we were there last. Especially the wine. Tip for anyone staying there. Turn right when you get off the ferry and there is a large supermarket at the top of the hill (15-20 minute walk) that sells wine, beer and everything imaginable for much more reasonable prices. The best coffee place in town is called Coco on Co only 5 minutes walk in the same direction. Staff and their Poke bowls were amazing. We went there every day! Best burgers in town at at the opposite end of town, a good 20 minute walk to a place called Burgers at Vanuatu - it's located in a shipping container. THE best burgers we have come across and not expensive. Probably the only fault after 8 days was that I accidently cut my foot and needed a band aid. I asked at the restaurant and they didn't have a first aid kit. That's something that should be rectified I would go back there in a heart beat - just don't go on "Independence Day" the celebrations were loud and kept us awake until 4am. No fault of the hotel."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Manga'Asi?
The best area to stay in Manga'Asi is along the main coastal road, particularly around the areas leading into town from the north and south. This stretch offers convenient access to the town's facilities while providing direct proximity to the coast. You'll find a mix of accommodation options, often with views of the ocean, and it's where most of the local eateries and shops are concentrated. The main road itself, though unpaved in parts, is the central artery for getting around. For couples seeking a relaxing retreat, areas slightly outside the immediate town centre, but still along the coastal road, are ideal. These spots often feature bungalows or small resorts with private beachfront access, superb for quiet evenings and enjoying the natural beauty of the island. Many offer opportunities for snorkelling right from their shores.Families will find the central coastal area of Manga'Asi practical. Hotels here often have larger rooms or family bungalows, and being closer to the town means easier access to local markets for provisions and community spaces where children can observe daily life.
When is the best time to go to Manga'Asi?
The best time to visit Manga'Asi is during the dry season, which runs from May to October.During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny days with lower humidity and very little rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the island and enjoying outdoor activities. The temperatures are pleasantly warm, typically ranging from 22°C to 28°C, providing comfortable conditions for relaxation and adventure alike. This period is superb for those looking to maximise their time enjoying the natural beauty of the region without the interruption of tropical downpours. The shoulder months of May and October are particularly good for travellers who prefer slightly fewer crowds while still benefiting from excellent weather.
