Uncomfortable experience

Posted 21-Sep-2016
Room had horrible lighting with some lights not working. If you open curtains you expose your whole room to the student accomodarion opposite.

Sehr größes hotel und direkt am Bahnhof

Posted 18-Sep-2016

Spacious rooms with large windows - near station

Posted 18-Sep-2016
Pros: Spacious room, windows
Cons: The carpet in the room didn't look very clean, and that really lets down the otherwise modern appearance. Also, only one functional lift - BIG problem
Location: About three minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station, and you can walk to main shopping area, bars or China Town in less than 15 minutes
Modern-ish hotel very close to Manchester Piccadilly train station. Even the standard "classic" rooms are surprisingly spacious, and have amazing long windows. Even from second floor there is a cool view of the "skyline" and busy main road leading to Piccadilly station (if you like that kind of thing) - I was standing there watching the traffic for quite some time. Comfortable enough beds, a bit strangely shaped long but also spacious bathroom. Room interior looked very different from what I saw on the website, with green tones (I think the website shows the even bigger rooms, with these red chairs) but not necessarily in a bad way. Downsides were the carpet in the room, as well as the carpets in the long corridors, didn't look very clean, and that really lets down the otherwise modern appearance. Also, there was only ONE functional lift - BIG problem in such a large hotel, there were queues to get into the lift, my wife (who had difficulties walking stairs) took 12 minutes (!) from the second floor to the ground floor due to the overcrowding. I would expect some 24/7 emergency lift maintenance capability, or some way to carry out scheduled maintenance work at off-peak times.

Shame about the facilities...

Posted 16-Sep-2016
Pros: Location and breakfast in bed.
Cons: Facilities and overall value for money - very expensive for what it was
Location: great location within a walk of Piccadilly and the city centre.
Nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff, great location BUT the facilities (or lack of) let this place down. Lifts were not working (meaning a ridiculously long wait when moving luggage) or having to climb multiple flights of stairs. The spa staff were lovely, as was the treatment but the sauna wasn't working either and the wet area was pretty disappointing. Management need to get repairs actioned ASAP to avoid grumbles. On a plus note, we can highly recommend the breakfast hamper in bed - one of the best value hotels breakfasts around and really yummy!

A nice experience

Posted 14-Sep-2016
Pros: The breakfast was also good, and the people serving, cooking very nice.
Cons: Kind of hard to flush the toilets unless you had good arm strength. The room needed a little more light over the desk for working purposes.
Location: Perfect for me. Near the station and near the university.
The room exceeded my expectations. Very comfortable and spacious. The location could hardly have been better or easier to find.

Altbackenes Hotel, aber sehr zentral

Posted 13-Sep-2016

Hotel close to Piccadilly station in Manchester

Posted 10-Sep-2016
Pros: The concierge staff was wonderful.
Cons: The policy of not cleaning the room should be made very clear to those making reservations in this hotel.
Location: Good location and very accessible to downtown Manchester.
The concierge staff at the hotel were spectacularly hospitable. However on some days the room was not cleaned and we learned that cleaning the room had to be requested from the guests and was not to be expected. At one point we asked three different times to have clean towels and the beds made up and we were not accommodated on these requests at all. At different points the Wi-Fi did not work, not good for somebody who is working and depends on the Internet. Only one small elevator worked in the building and it was constantly crowded obliging us to take the stairs.
