Comfortable stay with some great views over Manhes
We were staying in Manchester for the night and decided to stay at the MacDonald Spa Hotel due to its very convenient location, right next to Piccadilly station, and also due to me wanting to stay here for quite some time now as I always used to walk past it.
The hotel looks very impressive from the outside – a huge long curvy structure on pillars overlooking London Road on one side, and Piccadilly Station on the other. Check-in was very smooth, and they even had some complimentary lemon water for you to try while you wait. The reception area is quite large with a bar area next to it and a Steak restaurant in the basement.
There were only 2 lifts which I found surprising as the hotel is over 8 or 9 floors with a good 50 rooms on each floor. The room, once we finally got there, as it was on the other end of one of the longest corridors I have ever encountered in a UK hotel was very nice, with the highlight being the great views over the Manchester skyline. You have London road below you, Mancunian Way on your left, the Manchester University Campus right ahead, and various buildings including the Hilton tower in the distance. The light from all the cars makes for some great scenery at night, although you can’t hear any of the noise. The room had everything you could need for a short stay including a small table with 2 big comfy chairs, a desk, office chair, safe, ironing board, large tv on the wall. The carpet was a tad di
