Not what we expected.
I recently stayed at MacDonald Hotel, near Manchester Piccadilly train station and was pretty disappointed. We were given a room which was a disabled access room... this for 2 young girls was a bit uncomfortable. We couldn't shower without drenching the whole bathroom as there was no shower curtain and instead it was an open plan bathroom with a chair in the shower for people who are unable to stand. The sink was so far down we had to bend over excessively to wash or brush our teeth, because again the room was for wheelchair users. The toiletries provided were for 1 person only, although we had booked for 2 people. The room smelled old and the furniture needed a good clean. When we went to make a cup of tea, the facilities looked like they hadn't been checked or used for about a year. Everything was dusty and there was no sugar available. Additionally, to request fresh milk we had to call room service... who didn't answer. I am very disappointed in the hotel. The pictures on the website looked so lovely and the hotel seemed modern, we felt utterly let down by what we were met with upon entering our room.
On the upside, the reception staff are friendly and helpful. Additionally, the food is great at the steakhouse, we had a 3 course meal there and we were very impressed - credit to the chef!
