Not bad but not great

Posted 06-Dec-2017
Pros: Good location Clean modern room Reasonably priced Good WiFi Good coffee downstairs... which is a BIG + for me. Short walk away from Manchester Piccadilly train station. Cons: Uncomfortable bed made my back hurt. Desk staff appeared to be foreign students with varying degrees of professionalism & grasp of the English language. No room phones, so had to go to the desk for everything. £8.95 for mediocre breakfast when you can easily find a better one for £3.95 at several nearby places. Bottom Line - It wasn't the most luxurious hotel I've seen, but it was clean and affordable; and I would stay there again.

Downtown Manchester

Posted 07-Nov-2017
Pros: THe staff were friendly and the beds comfortable.
The hotel was fine for what we needed, good location, clean and friendly staff. The only drawback was that it was noisy at night. This was probably from partying students. Other than that it was good.

Very modern facilities, a little crampt in bathroom but shower etc was good. Checkin was very efficient. Hotel staff particularly Michelle was excellent as she went beyond to help us. Overall a good stay & value for money.

Horrendous

Posted 21-Oct-2017
This has to be the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in. The room was right next to a train line bridge so all you can hear is trains de-celebrating as they pull into Manchester. The street noise from the pubs around just continued and continued all night and into the very early hours 4am was when I finally got to sleep. Even more worrying was the hotel fire alarm going off - myself and only 3 others went down to the reception to be met by staff who just shrugged their shoulders and said it was a guest who had stayed too long in a shower- very very concerning attitudes to guest safety that no one seemed to be responding to the alarm. Finally as I left the hotel I was met outside by two males, one wearing a red t-shirt with white writing on - who asked I needed any help to get into the city? Very thoughtful one might say but the men were nothing to do with the hotel they were however dressed up to look like the staff inside the reception!! I went back in to advise the staff that I thought the two men were potentially imitating staff uniforms but again they just seemed disinterested with no attempt to record it as a potential safety issue. As soon as I walked back into the hotel the two men very quickly noticed this and disappeared into the side streets. Not a place to stay if your wanting a good night sleep or to feel safe.

It was all great except the bathroom floor flooded a bit because of one shower use and I didn't clock when breakfast finished
