Confusing lay out. Had a 73 year old who struggled with the steps and layout, always had to be with somebody

Return visit to this nice hotel

Posted 23-May-2017
Pros: The staff are very good, very helpful.
Cons: Fix the air conditioning.
Location: Convenient for the main street in Mellieha with a vast assortment of restaurants. This is NOT a resort for young people. Near to dive sites.
We went back to the Pergola after staying there last year when we were diving. We decided to go back again, but went n a slightly bigger budget and a bigger room. While the room was undoubtedly nicer, the bathroom was a bit cramped, but I'm afraid the big let down was that the air conditioning didn't work. If anything, it made the room hotter! We did raise this with reception who advised us that there were problems with the aircon, but it wasn't fixed during our stay, which is why the room comfort rating is lower than it might otherwise have been. Having said the above, we will probably be going back next year for another diving trip, so hopefully this will all be sorted by then.

Friendly hotel centrally located for main street

Posted 18-Mar-2017
Pros: Friendliness of the staff, promptness to address any issues e.g. intermittent hot water.
Cons: Spa a little disappointing; felt that treatments at therapists rather than guests convenience. Shared wall with private apartment very noisy one night
Location: Less than 5 minutes walk to bus stop for frequent local buses. Oldest church in Malta and Marian shrine interesting, as were air raid shelters.
Set into side of hill and confusing upside down i.e. Reception, Floor 1, at top of hotel, and floor 7 at street level. 3 lifts and not all went to every floor so have to be alert! Comparatively small and cosy with very friendly and helpful staff. Our rooms were very spacious, well equipped, extremely clean and as advertised. Easy walk to the restaurants and sights of Mellieha, but rather more hilly than might expect. Buffet meals and bars at restaurant all fine, but spa a little small - sauna in particular had to be booked as only fit 3, no steam room, jacuzzi not always very warm, pool small. More than 8 people in pool area and it began to feel crowded.

A beautiful hotel in a great area

Posted 14-Mar-2017
Pros: Everything The staff, food, rooms and facilities were all excellent
Cons: The only thing I can think of is the charge to use the room safe
Location: We found the location great There was a good bus service to everywhere There were plenty of places to visit on foot A good road network too
We can't fault the hotel at all. It's spotlessly clean, The staff are very friendly and can't do enough to help you. The room was huge and well equipped. It was situated in an area we found was good for exploring the island and that of Gozo.
