Nice hotel in the middle of the town

Posted 11-Jun-2015
Great hotel for a 'quieter' holiday - far more 'malta' feel to this town than the likes of St Julian's etc. Hotel is situated on the top of the hill, 20 mins walk from the beach, great views of Gozo and Comino from hotel rooms. Overlooking patio/pool area which meant guests can watch music entertainer from the balcony! Staff very friendly and welcoming - check in quick and had a free bottle of wine for booking 7 x breakfast for 6 euro per day. Well recommended hotel - like home from home. Room clean and adequate - not posh but homely. Large apartments suitable for families.

quite good with one exception - cocroaches

Posted 18-May-2015 on Hotels
The hotel is quite big and its topology is very complicated (a few small lifts, many corridors, etc). Our apartment was quite big, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen with all equipment. The main problem: COCROACHES. When reported this to the reception desk, next day we found a "bug killer" spray in our bathroom. That's all. Pathetic, isn't it? Just to remind you - it is FOUR STAR hotel. Anyway, all in all not so bad, maybe other apartments/rooms are better.

Will return again

Cot not there when we arrived and sofa bed instead of proper bed. Once we complained issues were dealt with very well and we had our room upgraded and a free bottle of wine! My 5th stay here and would definitely return. Lovely views

Ok, but noisy

Good value... The hotel is just okay

Posted 01-May-2015 on Hotels
In general, compared to other hotels, Pergola Club Hotel & Spa is a good value but the hotel is just okay. It is clean and can accommodate a variety of party sizes (couples to large groups). Its perched on the hill with a great view of the church in the center of town (if you purchase the room with the view, not the garden view). They offer a free buffet breakfast (the food was okay, not great). Three pools are on the facility (two indoor and one outdoor) with an indoor jacuzzi. The location is close to the public bus stop, which is very convenient. As far as negatives, Pergola is dated. The lights in the rooms are very dim. The double bed is two thin twin mattresses put side by side. There's two pieces of the bed linen (e.g. one sheet that covers the head of the bed and one that covers the foot of the bed), it wasn't one sheet. The bed didn't look comfortable, though I ended up sleeping fine. You can hear the buses/traffic from the major road nearby, so earplugs may be a good option if you're a light sleeper. The wi-fi is spotty. The bathroom is pretty small, but the sink and shower have great water pressure... Overall, for Melliha, Pergola is a nice choice, but don't expect the best of the best. It was good for what we needed, which was a clean room and a bed to sleep in.
