Perfect for us

Posted 09-Jan-2018
Travelled to this hotel with another family. Staff was superb and always helpful. Facilities were comfortable and mostly updated. Our suite was a little tired though. Kids used indoor and outdoor pools - loved them. Spa staff and spa were lovely! Only ate breakfast at hotel- very good but a bit more hot food variety would have been nice.

Great Staff!

Posted 07-Jan-2018
Pros: The staff.
Cons: There was a slight fishy smell in our hallway in the evening but that could have been from the guests cooking next to us, staying on our floor.
Location: Near a bus stop and car hire. Excellent restaurants nearby.
We stayed at the Pergola for our post Christmas vacation and it was fabulous. The staff was so helpful, especially when I needed a trip to the hospital. Delores was quick to arrange transportation, recommend a health centre and ease my worries going into the experience. The hotel was close to a bus route and to a car hire, the shuttles offered were helpful and professional, it was clean (although a bit confusing to get around). I would recommend this hote.

Staff at the reception desk.

Posted 30-Dec-2017
I requested to borrow a rolling pin cooking item and declined that it was unhygienic for the residents to borrow from hotel housekeeper department. On second attempt I thought of requesting over the telephone rather than in person and was advised to go ahead to collect it from the housekeeper. This was the same receptionist on that particular day. The receptionist was a lady probably in her late 30s or mid 40s who seemed to be of an Irish background.I later decided I did not need it after all. I was disappointed by the rational of cross contamination between the resident and the hotel housekeeper yet all the hotel utensils in the room belonged to the hotel after all.

Good spot for the town, but not beach

Posted 21-Dec-2017
Pros: Close vicinity to Mellieha town which had good choice of restaurants. Very quirky layout. Lovely infinity pool. Friendly, helpful staff.
Cons: Room cleaning was a bit hit and miss and late in the day; sometimes it hadn't been done when we returned. Towels were always replaced unnecessarily.
Location: Lovely part of Malta. We hired a car so were able to visit most of the island. Worth going to Mdina, Rabat and Valetta.Park in Floriana for Valetta.
The hotel is well placed at the top of a hill for a good view of the parish church.Breakfast was very generous with hot (full English) and cold food to chose from. Minimum cost was 7.50 euros, less if you paid for more at once. We only ate in the hotel once. Again it was a buffet with a choice of 3 meat dishes, fish and vegetarian. Selection of accompanying veg was limited - potatoes and cauli. Good choice of starter - soup, pasta, cold selection. Dessert also had a good selection, including cheese. There was nothing to stop you from going back as often as you liked as far as I could see. Back to the floors - there are about 7 floors with floor 7 being at the bottom. Because the hotel is built into a hill (with steps down the outside), both floor 7 and 1 are at ground level. Lifts inside take you to all levels but not all lifts go to the same floors. We upgraded to a room opposite the small pool - additional 10 euros a day. This allowed us to sit out in the sun for some of the time - sun did move away later in the day, may be different in summer. Room was adequate for our needs. Large bed with comfortable mattress. Shower bit low for 6ft husband

Lovely Hotel in great location

Posted 16-Dec-2017
My husband and I got a deal for 4 nights in Pergola Hotel. Our first time in Malta and we discovered the Bus Stop just over the Bridge from the Hotel. All buses cost just €1.50 per journey. We visited lots of locations and found our location the ideal spot. A beautiful beach just further down the Coast and further on, The Port, with Ferry to Gozo. We ate out the first few night and then discovered The Al Fresco Bar at our own Hotel with lovely food and reasonably priced. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would love to return for a longer stay sometime.

Confusing layout, but a very nice hotel

Posted 15-Dec-2017
This hotel has an amazing breakfast, wonderful rooms, charming decorations, friendly staff, and some nice views of the area...but the layout is a bit odd. If you don't mind navigating the maze, you'll love your stay here :)

nice hotel shame about a few things

Posted 04-Dec-2017
Cons: cleaners dont use the lifts and let paying guests use them keep the buffet full dont wait till its empty to order more
we stayed at the hotel in nov 2017 the only thing we did not like was the buffet breakfast did not matter what time you went down half the food was empty and you would have to wait 20+ mins to get it filled if you had to use the lift in the morning 9 times out of 10 the cleaners would be going up and down in it so you could not get it 1 morning we had workmen drilling and banging in the room above us at 8am

The best hotel in Mellieha

Posted 29-Nov-2017
Pros: Friendly family type hotel, not too large very well run.
Cons: Nothing as far as I am concerned.
Location: There is a bus stop 2 minutes walk from the hotel where an excellent service operates to many parts of the island.
We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past few years and never been disappointed. Warm welcome from Delores on arrival at reception. Beautiful varied meals at the Bonaventura restaurant (which would suit all tastes). Friendly and efficient service from all staff (particularly Doreen, Marouska and Adam). Thanks again to Pierre for organising our favourite room. The hotel is in a quiet situation as it is set back from the main road. I recommend the half board package as this is excellent value, but if you only want B&B there are many cafes and restaurants in the town. The ferry terminal to Gozo is only a 15 minute bus ride away. For people who like walking there are many nice walks in the area, especially along the Marfa Ridge. Mellieha bay is a 15 minute downhill walk from the hotel. This bay is very suitable for children as the water is very shallow for many metres from edge of the sand. Other bays (Golden bay and Ghajn Tuffieha bay) can be easily reached via the 101 bus route, every hour from ouside the hotel. The 101 bus also goes to Popeye village, good outing for all the family

An ideal hotel for exploring Malta

Posted 20-Nov-2017
Pros: The generous room utensil provision by the family management team; the decor, the seating, balcony and attitude in welcoming children.
Cons: More notices showing which way to go as we got lost so many times. Guest laundry room & washing machine facility.
Location: Sadly town museum closed, although signposted. The war shelter, Church, beach, town shops, bus tours. Car trips to cinema, Aquarium and Red castle
Breakfast was generous and very economical. Our rooms were spacious with plenty of chairs and outstanding self catering facilities - everything thought of. We ate out for lunch and self catered in the evening when tired. The 'in house' restaurants served tasty and enjoyable food. We appreciated our balcony & furniture with its beautiful view. The only item missing was a clothes washing facility. We used the floor 7 entrance. We managed to lose ourselves many times in the two different sides of the hotel.
