Quality hotel, but a few niggles

Posted 21-Jul-2017
Pros: The breakfast! Very comfortable beds. The staff were mostly corteous and helpful (the front desk especially).
Cons: See comments under 'experience'.
Location: The Pinewalk in to Port de Pollenca is lovely. Some restaurants are better than others of course!
We were warmly greeted on arrival and our room was ready before the expected check in time. However, it had been hurriedly cleaned and the floor was mucky. This was rectified while we were out. Although it was spacious and comfortable the heat of the sun against the west facing window was so fierce that the aircondition had difficulty keeping a constant temperature. The were no awnings or parasols on the balconies which we felt was inadequate. The breakfasts were quite superb - all you could want and plenty of fresh orange juice and coffee. My wife and I chose to eat out visiting restaurants in the area so we can't comment on lunch or dinner. One reason was the inconvenience of having to chose either an early, or a late dinner sitting. The beach area and surrounding pool areas were rather cramped with sunbeds crowded in to maximise useage. This meant that it was impossible to move sunbeds more than a few centimeters where cover from the sun was limited by too few parasols. It was explained to me that the beach area is council owned and rented back to the hotel and restrictions are placed on the number of parasols that can be placed there. With the temperature at 35C getting out of the sun for several hours was essential. I would estimate that the ratio of sunbeds to number of hotel rooms (2 guests per room) to be around 50%. Similarly the pool area. And the pool is a little small due to the lack of space.

Quiet hotel close to sea

Posted 06-Jul-2017
Very relaxing 4 days. Perfect hotel for quick 4 day break in sun. Good cocktail bar and outside restaurant. Breakfast excellent however had evening meal on first night in hotel and wouldn't recommend, seemed to be special deal with 2 sittings and afraid food was not good. Very good restaurants nearby and as I said outside on the terrace excellent. Would definitely stay again, staff were superb! Thank you

Nice hotel but...

Posted 05-Jul-2017
Only issues we had is the hotel is a little far away for young children to walk each day to some of the nicer restaurants and attractions ( saw very few taxis). It also certainly seems to attract an older clientele. Very few other families with young children.

Beautiful hotel opposite the beach.

The hotel sits on the main Pine Walk. The Illa D'Or area is recognised as being the most select area in Puerto Pollensa. Booked a room for 3 and ended up staying in the apartment annexe behind the main hotel, which has its own swimming pool, tennis courts and access to all the facilities in the main hotel. The apartments are modern, contemporary and clean. All have balconies looking out onto beautifully landscaped gardens, the pool and tennis courts. They would suit 3 adults or a family with 2 young children, but are too small for 4 adults. The breakfast buffet was amazing and could be eaten looking over the harbour out to sea. The hotel's sun bathing area is on the main frontage with direct access to a small man made beach and shallow, non tidal sea. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again but would only stay at the Illa D'Or.

Fabulous Hotel

Posted 23-Jun-2017
Pros: Particularly the staff and setting - out of town but close enough.
Cons: The sun bed situation, rather cramped, a difficult situation as space for sun beds limited. Perhaps place sun beds on balconies to overcome problem??
Location: Perfect location in residential area yet lovely 15 minute walk into Puerto Pollensa town. Easy to get bus into old town Pollensa and Alcudia.
This hotel has everything but particularly the staff who were friendly professional and attentive. Fantastic spot on the sea front with beds and close to a beach. Great hotel bar and restaurant on sea front. Scenic pine tree walk into Puerto Pollensa town with some good restaurants recommended by the hotel. Easy to get buses into other local towns. Terrific breakfast amazing selection of cooked breakfast, great selection of meats, cheeses, breads, fruits, cake ... it goes on 😘

Great hotel on the sea front.

Posted 02-Jun-2017
Pros: The location, well trained staff and beautiful furnishings.
Cons: More powerful hairdryer would be nice.
Location: The marina where boat hire, ferry to Formentor and water sports. The town for restaurants and some smart sea front bars.
We stayed there in a standard double room for four nights with balcony and side view of the sea. The room had everything we needed and it was nicely furnished. The room was a little small but we had the balcony to spread onto. All of the staff were friendly and always very helpful. The best thing about the hotel is the exceptional position at the end of the Pine Walk and on the sea front. The hotel has its own jetty and terraced sun bed area. There is also a fabulous bar and outdoor restaurant overlooking the sea. Breakfast is very good with an excellent range of choice including eggs cooked to order by the chef in the dining room. However we preferred to eat out for dinner. It takes approx. 15 mins to walk into the main restaurant area of the town. The walk there is along the sea front passing beautiful villas and under the pines trees. We would be very happy to stay at this hotel again.

Lovely relaxing hotel overlooking the sea.

Posted 31-May-2017
Lovely hotel along the pine walk overlooking the sea. We stayed in the apartments located to the rear of the hotel. This is our 3rd visit and love it here. Nice and quiet and very relaxing the staff can't do enough for you and are all very professional and friendly. The hotel in our opinion is more suitably for adults. It is a little walk,15 minutes, along the pine walk to the centre. Only slight moan is there are never enough suns beds near the beach as people stake their claim in the morning and although they don't stay on the sun bed they leave their towels, can be a little annoying. Will be back again soon.
