Good hotel, great location

Posted 24-Oct-2015
Pros: Extremely friendly and helpful reception staff, with great restaurant recommendations and help with bookings, activity suggestions, and much more.
Cons: Occasional unpleasant smell in corridor, intermittent television reception, coffee, orange juice & muesli at breakfast could be improved, otherwise OK
The Uyal is a very good hotel with good facilities and excellent staff. The hotel is adjacent to an great beach with great views, fine white sand, safe bathing and a very convenient beach bar. The hotel is very conveniently located within a comfortable 10 minute walk to the main restaurant area of town. For those who like a swift pre and post dinner drink, the Mombasa bar is a must.

Great Hotel - Fantastic Location

Posted 14-Sep-2015
Pros: Location and good food.
Cons: More comfortable sofa bed
Location: Over the road from the beach, lots of good restaurants nearby.
Extremely clean hotel in a great location just over the road from the beach. Close enough to the restaurants to stroll to in the evenings but not too close for noise etc. Small pool but not really a problem as it is so close to the beach. Breakfasts were very good with lots of choice of hot and cold selections. Room always cleaned to a very high standard but I would like to make the point that the sofa bed on which my 12 year old son slept was very uncomfortable and, like a previous reviewer, we had to use extra bedding to pad over the springs. Apart from that small matter we have a lovely time and would recommend and hope to visit again in the future.

Cons: Entertainment
Location: Nice beach and places to eat
Balcony flooded each time it rained, room lock kept breaking. Entertainment only lasted for about 1 hour.

Lovely hotel opposite the beach

Posted 07-Sep-2015
Pros: The room, location, staff and breakfast!
Cons: The pool bar could serve food and drink at little longer during the day. It stopped serving at 3pm but the pool didn't close until 6pm.
Location: Great location for the beach. There was also a bus stop right outside.
The hotel was a lovely, and in a great location for the beach which was directly opposite. The road outside was a little bit noisy but it did not bother me at all. It was a about a 20 minute walk to where most of the restaurants where, but there was some really nice ones on route if you did not want to walk so far. The room was very clean, modern and comfortable with everything you needed. The balcony was a bit small but was fine although we only got the sun on there first thing on a morning. The hotel staff were efficient and friendly and were very good with my 8 year old son. I also have to mention the breakfast buffet, which was great, lots of choice, my son loved going to choose what he wanted each day and it was nice to be able to sit outside and have breakfast.

Excellent hotel directly opposite beach.

Posted 25-Aug-2015
A great hotel with great facilities. Reception staff courteous and professional. Room was comfortable and balcony looked on to pool and beach. Breakfast was excellent choices for all. Location is about a half mile stroll to main centre if resort. Although pool was small there were always plenty if sunbeds. Directly across from hotel us beach with numerous beds. A quality hotel probably best suited for adults. Would definitely return.

Gutes Hotel in Strandnähe mit gehobenerem Publikum

Posted 15-Aug-2015
Pros: Strandnähe, gutes WLAN,
Cons: Klare Beschreibung der Einzelzimmmer im Internet
Location: Strand, Surfen, Segeln, Radfahren

Great Value, Great Location, Quiet.

Posted 09-Aug-2015
Pros: Location, breakfast, and how clean it was. We did have a junior suite, which had a nice view.
Cons: Wifi spotty.. it would barely work in our room. Had to move around for it to work. But if you went to lobby, service was good.
Location: Location is about 15 minute walk to the port. Taxi from hotel to port is 5 Euro. There is free parking, you have to nap a spot in the back or road.
We enjoyed our stay at Hoposa Uyal. We were there July 29th-August 2nd.. The breakfast is very good. A lot of fruit, pastries, basics of eggs and bacon, and they have an omelette station too. Several options of juice and coffee. The pool is real nice and warm and clean. Drinks are inexpensive at the bar. You do have to have a depost of 10 Euro for towels to take to beach. Be prepared to buy bottled water on the island. The water does not taste good to drink. However at breakfast they serve filtered water so drink up for your day!
