A Sports Hotel

Posted 26-Apr-2017
Pros: Our fellow guests were mostly healthy athletes from UK and Western Europe and the absence of overweight revellers.
Cons: The bathroom plumbing
Location: Puerto Pollenca is a great location for cycling with a variety of safe routes, some flat, others rolling and above all good mountain climbs.
We stayed at the Villaconcha, Puerto Pollenca on a cycling training trip from April18th to 25th.. On half board, we found the food limited in variety, but properly prepared and presented. Our room was spacious and equipped for self catering with a sun in the afternoon balcony. The cycling facilities were good with secure cover for up to 180 bikes including tools, pumps and drinking water to fill bottles before rides. There was also a heated 25 m training pool for triathletes and leisure pools for children. On the plus side the weather was dry and warm for the 600 kilometers we cycled, on the downside, the hotel failed to solve the problem of an unpleasant smell emanating from somewhere in our bathroom. Overall, we liked the place and would be happy to stay there again.

Pros: It was clean and bright.
Cons: The pool was freezing cold can't be heated only went in twice and that was a struggle, sea definitely warmer. Quiet a few cats around.
Location: Close to the harbour town and plenty of restaurants and shops. Hire a car and go explore as plenty to see we didn't get to do it all.
The rooms were always lovely and clean, very modern. Staff were very welcoming in the bar.

Very clean hotel with excellent facilities

Posted 31-Oct-2016
The standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel was excellent. The location meant that we could be on the sea front within 5 minutes. Food available for breakfast and dinner was of good standard, and catered well for vegetarians and the health-conscious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel, and are using this stay as our benchmark for future holidays.

Fabulous holiday destination!

Posted 28-Oct-2016
Pros: The hotel has been refurbished recently and was modern and well equipped. Facilities and location, particularly for cyclists were ideal. Our apartment had a kitchen and balcony area which gave us the option of preparing our own food and eating 'al fresco'. Pool area was clean and well laid out, tastefully landscaped with easy access to the bar/restaurant area. A particular bonus, as we were on a cycling holiday, was the way in which cyclists were catered for. A cycle hire shop is located adjacent to the reception area, as is a store room for bikes which housed lockers, bike racks, tools, water and washing/drying facilities. All the staff were very friendly and helpful - Freddie in the bike shop did a great job in sorting out our bikes for us.
Cons: Unfortunately, on occasions, there was a bad smell coming from the shower/sink/toilet. We were offered a change of room, but preferred the one we were in. We bought some bleach to use when required which, while not ideal, did seem to help. However, this would appear to be a problem in other rooms and needs to be addressed long-term.
Location: Located just off the water front, you are an easy walk from the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Puerto Pollensa is a Mecca for cyclists!

Well equipped hotel near to beach.

Posted 22-Oct-2016
Cons: Not having to pay a euro to use the pool! A little annoying.
Myself and my girlfriend really enjoyed our stay here. A very well equipped hotel with a nice atmosphere. Excellent if you are of a sporty persuasion.. A laned off 25 metre pool , a pretty good gym and road bikes to hire. We weren't organised enough to book our bikes (our fault) so we had to use one of the many bike hire places in town. This wasn't a problem as we could store the bikes in the hotel bike area which has pumps, spanners, locks and even a washing machine for manky kit!. There was no time to be back in the evening as well which was good. All in all I felt the hotel catered for our needs well. Nothing was too much trouble. Our flight back was late but we were able to keep our bags in storage, use the pool and spa...it was never a problem. The location of the hotel is good. A 3 minute stroll to the beach and a nice 5 minute meander into the hub of the town. I liked Puerto Pollensa. No high rise blocks. Very family orientated and friendly with a real passion for cycling. A charming resort. We went half board in an attempt to keep the costs down. Eating out every night can ramp up the expenditure. On the whole the food was good with a buffet style and lots of choice. It did get a little repetitive so a meal out from time to time would be worth it. Our rooms was cleaned virtually everyday and the staff took a real pride in the place. This is very commendable ,particularly as it was end of season. Having the kitchenette in the room also gave us options.

Great for families, cyclists and groups

Posted 22-Oct-2016
Pros: Close to the beach Comfy sunbeds at pool Bike hire on site International guests
Cons: Attitude of some of the staff
Location: Best genuine Majorcan restaurants, Simbad and Brisa Marina. Beach close €15 per day for 2 sunbeds and a parasol.
Close to the beach and had various pools all of which were regularly tested. The bar and reception staff helpful to us although dismissive of others. Very clean throughout but the older chambermaids looked you up and down and very judgemental (we are mother & daughter and in no way inappropriately dressed). Apartment ideal for short stay, comfortable beds with good quality bedding but no duvet covers , blackout curtains, small hob and micowave no duvet covers. We paid extra to use the spa, unfortunately the steam room wasn't working and the jacuzzi cool. All in all its the end of the season and people are tired, good facilities on site, overall 3.5 from us

Very nice but some key issues

Posted 11-Oct-2016 on Hotels
Overall, this recently renovated hotel was very good. It was modern and had stylish design. The pool area was very nice. Some things really negatively affected the visit, though. There were a couple major stains on the sheets/bedspread. The wi-fi was weak or not working most of the time. There were exposed wires and insulation in the room. The noise from the hallway was really loud. When we checked in, they didn't provide any information on the facilities.
