First class stay in beautiful surroundings
We stayed at Nicola & Paul's place during the last week in September 2021, and loved every minute. The check-in was a breeze even though we arrived in the dark as Nicola had provided a code for the front door. The apartment is spacious and well appointed with a very high standard of furnishings, we especially loved the Netflix access and the Bluetooth speaker. The aircon was a welcome relief at night time to assist a comfortable night's sleep as well as a floor fan in the main bedroom. The over-bath shower was great with plenty of hot water at good pressure. Outside there was a dining table and chairs and also large cushioned easy chairs for relaxing, as well as 2 sun loungers. As the back garden is south facing the sun shines there all day, perfect for those lazy days bathing. As well as the Blue Lagoon, the apartment has access to a superb communal pool a 2 minute walk from the property which is lovely and clean, and of a good size that you can fit in some lengths if need be.
We spent most of our time down at the Lagoon, which is unique and absolutely brilliant. The owners provide wristbands which gives renters exclusive access to the owners entrance, and also free use of the watersports of paddleboarding, kayaking and pedeloing. There is also a very good Chiringuito beside the man-made beach which serves light lunches, smoothies and ice-creams, but also lovely cocktails, sangria, wine and beer. Further round near the other beach, which is open to day trippers, you'll find a great little Tiki bar, and also up on the hill, a more formal dining restaurant which is great for sitting watching the sunset over the Lagoon. There is also a small mini mart in there, good for basic supplies.
The gardens are a joy, and make you feel like you're in a tropical oasis. Well tended and with a huge variety of tropical plants, they make a lovely walk in the evening before a sun downer on the back patio.
All in all we had a fantastic break in Alcazaba, and also worth mentioning is the charming little town of Estepona just down the hill with it's beautiful old town with picturesque plaza's and cobbled streets. We have already made plans to return with family next year!
