Ultimate place to chill

Posted 10-Mar-2017
Pros: Breakfast, atmosphere, close to everything, happy hour drinks
Cons: Work being done at the time which constant drilling etc but that really couldn't be helped considering the time of year.
Location: Close to two amazing restaurants Vintage 8 , La taberna K Pasa tapas bar, cable car from Benalmadena. Renfe trains easy and cheap to travel
Brilliant hotel right on the coast with excellent facilities especially breakfast. Good offers on drinks during happy hour with the pool bar a good place to chill out. Short steep walk to the town and easy access to the train station which stress free and inexpensive transfers to the airport.

Great buffet breakfast. Parking a bit pricy at 11.50 euros a day but street parking available

Cons: Would have preferred having a large bed in the room instead of two singles pushed together. Only issue I had.
Staff were fantastic and accommodating. Breakfast and dinner were both ran extremely efficiently by the restaurant.

Beautiful hotel next to the beach

Posted 23-Feb-2017
Pros: the room, the upgrade
Cons: Make it clear that the spa costs extra. You're not a spa hotel if it's all an additional cost.
Location: short walk to shopping, gastronomy and public transportation. On the beach.
We arrived early and were upgraded from a standard room to a beautiful junior suite with a wraparound terrace and welcome gift. Gorgeous view of the ocean despite the cold windy rainy weather. Beautiful room and amenities and attentive reception and hotel staff, we bought our own bottle of wine to eat with our dinner and the bar was helpful and provided us with a corkscrew. Short 10 min walk to shopping area and public transportation so that we could explore Malaga and its museums. two TVs in our room and comfortable couches in the sitting area. Very upset that we were misled into believing that parts of the spa including the sauna and indoor pool were included with the cost of our room and upon arrival found that it would cost an extra 19.50 Euro for only 20 minutes in the indoor sea pool.

Nicely renovated hotel on the beach

Posted 17-Feb-2017
Although the outside looks slightly old on the outside, you forget about all that once you enter inside. The staff are pleasant and polite. Attentive and helpful if you need them. I had a 2 bedroom master suite on the 8th floor. One room had a queen size bed and large bathroom. The second two single beds with a smaller bathroom. In between them a lounge area with big tv and even a sofa bed too. But for me it was the balcony that stretched the entire room. Complete with sun loungers and chairs, you had a brilliant view of the beach and ocean. I had half board included and neither breakfast nor dinner disappointed with their variety. You could even have champagne for breakfast if you fancied. The only downside was that you had to pay for the spa facilities. I felt it should have been free to guests of the hotel, and to me didnt warrant the €20 price tag. But overall a lovely place to stay. I've stayed in Melia hotels in London and Barcelona so I know they don't disappoint anyway. Would go back during the summer season just to see the difference.

Nice hotel over the road from the beach.

Posted 25-Jan-2017
We have just returned from a three night stay at the Melia and found it to be an ideal place to spend any sort of holiday, ie short breaks or longer holidays. The staff are extremely friendly, the restaurant clean and food plentiful, lots of choice both for breakfast and buffet dinner. The ambience of the hotel is very relaxed with the bar area a pleasant place to spend a couple of hours of an evening if you decide not to go out. It's close to lots of bars and restaurants and the beach is directly across the road! Overall, a great choice, we would definitely go back!

Nice hotel close to beach

Posted 30-Dec-2016
Pros: Location, value for money, clean and very efficiently run. Great pool area - comfy sunbeds.
Cons: Drink making facility in room, cheaper/free spa access.
Location: Right on sea front promenade. Nice walk to Benalmadena marina (2.5 miles). Plenty shops & cafes nearby. 100 metres to lift into town.
Great location right on sea front promenade and close to lift up to town. Hotel perfectly clean and tidy and restaurant food selection was perfectly acceptable but not exceptional for a 4 star hotel. Would have preferred waiter service but buffets are the norm unfortunately. Disappointed that had to pay to use indoor spa pool at this time of year.. Free wifi good in room. Bar prices reasonable. Some entertainment in bar area. Room choices pot luck as to decent view from balcony - could be full shade or full sun so aim for east facing towards front if possible. Staff friendly enough but felt bit impersonal in large hotel which is normal. Very efficiently run & well organised. Pool area excellent. No tea/coffee facility in room which is disappointing but again seems the norm these days. Would recommend and probably return.

Excellent hotel in the right place for a Christmas

Posted 30-Dec-2016
Pros: Everything
Cons: The food is excellent. Compared to other hotels we stay in the mains selection in the evening was too limited, and sometimes just not that good.
Location: Good
Hotel is excellent. Area nice and busy in the day but quiet at night. For us the weather was great. Food was good but mains a bit limited
