Good Hotel with very nice facilities

Posted 15-May-2016
Pros: Pool areas, comfortable beds and spacious rooms
Cons: Bathrooms, breakfast and half board buffet supper
Location: Many restaurants and convenient to Marbella and many other popular tourist spots. Many walks and trails in area
Enjoyed a 2 day stay at Gran Hotel. The Hotel is on a lovely property on the outskirts of Benahavis, a short walk from the village where you can enjoy excellent restaurants. The Hotel has lovely pools and very nice areas around the pool. Due to inclement weather not able to enjoy these facilities but they were more than adequate. Spacious rooms, very comfortable bed, especially on the 2nd floor where they are newly renovated. Bathrooms need to have work done on tile, quite a bit of mildew. Breakfast included and was average. Do not recommend the "half board". The food was only average, served buffet style and in the breakfast room. Expected to be in the restaurant with a fixed menu. Both breakfast and buffet food not hot. Large foyer, little dark, could use a makeover. Recommend this property.

Another Wonderful Benahavis Experience

Posted 13-May-2016
Pros: The courtyard and 'Tyrolean feel' to parts of the interior The rooms are extremely spacious and one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in.
Cons: On our previous stay table d'hote evening menu was changed daily, this stay it was a set buffet daily which we did not choose to eat as prefer variety
Location: Idyllic peaceful location. The village has a variety of bars & restaurants offering good selection of menus Recommend car hire to explore the area
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel within the last 6 months and were not disappointed with our experience. The reception staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful, as are the bar and waiting on staff. The breakfasts are very tasty, try the mini blackpuddings and little spicy sausages ....delicious.

Great hotel, wonderful location.

Posted 20-Apr-2016
Pros: Without doubt the staff, at least the ones we came across were charming helpful and great characters.
Cons: As it was only mid April the pool was too cold to use.
Location: A fabulous location - just a ten minute walk into the centre which is full of great restaurants and bars. It is an uphill walk though.
We spent four nights in this typical Spanish style hotel - and yes some areas are a little tired. However this only seems to add to its charm. If you want contemporary sleek perfection this is not for you. If you want a great stay large rooms lots of character in amazing surroundings then give this one a go.

Almost but not quite.....

Posted 18-Apr-2016
Pros: Location. External appearance. Pools.
Cons: Very tired in the rooms. smacks of a lack of maintenance. Breakfast always the same and only just average. Staff could learn to smile.
Location: Benahavís is beautiful. Town very steep. Go on exhausting walks. Eat great food in over 50 restaurants. Close to the coast for those who want it.
The experience was fine but no more. The place is so nearly really good but needs a maintenance effort in the rooms. Location and facilities (i.e. Pools, etc) great. I would go back because we had a really good time. But it is definitely not 4 star !!!

Excellent facilities, good parking, near town

Posted 07-Mar-2016
The bedroom was enormous and came equipped with a kettle, iron and ironing board, whih is unusual for Spain. The pool areas were lovely and the large pato and gardens would be very welcome in the summer. Parking was very easy. It was just a 10 minute walk into town for restaurants and bars. A handy stopover for Malaga airport as it was only 10-15 minutes drive off the motorway yet was lovely and quiet in a delightful setting.
