Who designed the bathroom doors?!
Coming from Europe we were a little surprised to receive a 'Bonjour' everytime we met a member of staff. Even from the maids. In Chicago?! OK, so it's a French chain, but this is a little bit of an unnecessary pretention. Most staff were friendly and efficient, except perhaps for a couple of staff at breakfast where the service was slow - particularly for America. (One or two waitresses/waiters, on the other hand, stood out for their attention to customers.)
What spoilt the experience for us, however, was the bathroom door. We asked to change rooms, only to find the design the same in all bathrooms. Who would think of putting swing doors with a gap at the bottom and also a substantial gap where the doors meet, to a room which not only contains the washing facilities but the toilet as well?! Even when we moved to a suite (where, interestingly, they'd installed a sliding door to the bedroom as, what appeared to be, an afterthought) the bathroom/loo was still virtually open to the sitting area.
The reception staff were accommodating when it came to finding us another room.
