Posted 18-Mar-2017
Pros: Great location and a beautiful hotel. Loved the entrance area. The standard room was anything but standard. Brekkie best outside USA.
Cons: Restaurant was expensive and quite limited. Cracked teapots at breakfast. Movie channel in room.
Location: Walkable to Palace Real and main shopping street.
Loved this hotel. Staff very good and room excellent.Convenient for metro and tour bus.

City break with friends

Posted 11-Mar-2017
Pros: Staff, breakfast ,room
Cons: Definitely every room to have tea/coffee facilities
Location: Great location. Grand palace 15 minutes walk. Short walk to tourist bus stop.
Lovely time, would have liked every room to have tea/coffee facilities, not just certain ones although they did provide a kettle when we asked. Had to get tea bags from restaurant. Not good for 5 star. Apart from that it was beautiful. Staff extremely helpful, breakfast wonderful.

Pros: Good restaurant
Cons: Bathroom sink design, very awkward to use. Better window insulation, cold air leaking in, noise from sirens day and night.
Location: Same as above.
Walking distance to parks, shopping, museums and restaurants.

Nice hotel lacking soul

Posted 26-Feb-2017
Pros: Room was lovely - big bed, fabulous bathroom.
Cons: Customer care/interaction, drink making facilities in room
Location: Good location
Lovely modern hotel belies lack of customer service beyond the functional. Good service includes notions of customer care and friendliness. Despite having paid for a hotel and fight city break we were somehow second class in a multinational hotel chain. The simple task of asking to use the computer facility to print off the boarding cards for flights home marked us out as not qualifying for member services ! Absence of tea/coffee facilities in the room meant paying 11 euros for 2 small cups with hot water and no milk.

Great Hotel!!

Posted 07-Feb-2017
Pros: Clean, Modern, friendly staff, good location to City centre.
Cons: More choices of cereal for Breakfast
Location: 10-15 Minutes walk from Gran Via. Restuarants,Theatre, cinemas Primark, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid Stores, Plazas and bars, hop on/off Tour Bus
Having used the Melia White house in London, I chose The Hotel Melia Princessa expecting the quality of rooms and service to be excellent and we were not disappointed. This was out first time in Madrid and we were here for a weekend Break. The hotel itself is within 10-15 minutes walk to Gran Via and there are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, fast food places nearby to explore. At check in the member of staff could not have been more helpful and even spent time going through the local map and telling us the places to see and the places to avoid. She pointed out places where the locals go and the restaurants and bars to look out for. Our room was a standard room and was clean, comfortable and modern. It was well kept and in good condition. Breakfast was Buffet style and the range of food on offer was amazing and catered for all food tastes. They even had a section for those requiring Gluten free. There was also a cook/chef on hand making omelettes and fried eggs to order. The staff throughout the hotel were all friendly and really appreciated when you attempted to speak a little Spanish . We would definitely use Melia hotels again as they are excellent quality without being exorbitant or pretentious.
