Fabulous hotel brilliant location
We had a wonderful welcome at check in by David, a glass of Cava whilst we checked in was great after our journey. David spoke very good English and was polite and knowledgeable.
We did not subscribe to daily buffet breakfast at 25 Euro/p/p, instead opted for a la carte which gave us more flexibility to try other places. From the a la carte we could select various options, eg for 10 Euros each we could have : orange juice,fruit salad, coffee, eggs/bacon and toast/marmalade. This was excellent value and served to our table, we did not have to do the dreaded hotel toaster challenge, it was all done for us.Result!
Hotels rooftop bar was reopened after refurb. during our stay, pleasant area for a drink although new staff at launch can only improve.
Hotel is in brilliant location adjacent to Pl del St Ana and Pl del Angel with a plethora of eating places and bars/ outside terraces. Weather was fantastic (high 20's) so we spent most of our time outside under the shaded terraces.
Easy walks to the Prado (10mins), Thyssen (10mins), Pl Mayor (15mins) and Palacio Real (25mis). We did not need to use Metro or buses.
Hop on/off bus not wonderful, commentary is poor but still worthwhile for a day for routes 1&2, you wont need second day.
Prado was impressive but we would also recommend Palacio Real (book skip the line in hotel) - stunning, and Monasterio las Descalzas Reale - limited access (live convent) but absolutely amazing - hidden gem worth seeking out. Stunning Rubens tapestries
