Location is excellent. And the price is very good. However some of facility is a little bit old and damaged. The electric socket is not convenient/enough to place my rechargable peripherals.

The location is perfect. A pretty old hotel along gran via. If you’re a light sleeper then this isn’t the hotel for you because you hear all the noise in the street.

A great place right on Grand Via
A great find! It oozes old-world charm while appealing to travelers like myself who are seeking budget-friendly accommodations. Accessed on the second floor of a grand old building right on the bustling Grand Via, via a perfectly marvelous classic old-world elevator (or, take the stairs). Someone will buzz you in upstairs, 24/7. Rooms are impeccably clean, and the bed was very comfortable. High ceilings, soaring windows overlooking the street--it was possible to shut out the light with those external shades so common in Spain. Of course there's street-noise, but after hours it's really not much. Amenities are minimal of course, but who cares? This place is a gem for world travelers who are looking for a great deal.

Basic but clean, friendly and great location
This is located within walking distance of all the city centre places of interest and many buses, including the Alsa city tourist bus, stop right outside. There's a fantastic vegan restaurant in nearby Calle de la Luna. (Vega - you'll need to book!) The room was pretty standard for a Spanish hostal, which means basic and no in-room drink-making facilities, but it was very clean, with towels etc. changed every day, and loan of a hairdryer on request. The owner and staff were very friendly.

When we arrived at the hotel on the evening we were told " your booking has been cancelled " By who and why ??? The owner claims to have sent an e mail. I have received no e mail from the hotel or Expedia. I was with my 86 year old father and I do not appreciate walking the street of Madrid at night in search of alternative accommodation.

Sleepless in Madrid
Hotel has excellent location but because its on the main street "gran via" the traffic noise all thro the day and night is too much, altho I must say I'm a light sleeper. The rooms are cramped and are not modern but are clean have a small private bathroom and aircon which was a godsend because it was 39 degrees and madrid soaks up the heat and emits it later on. People on reception were very friendly and there's a nice relaxed atmosphere. MADRID is lovely tho and you should only be in your room to sleep anyway.

Excellent location and clean hotel
First time in Madrid and staying at a hostel. Staff were super friendly and accommodating, especially when I spoke very little Spanish. My room was clean. I definitely loved how the hotel was so central and walking distance to everything.

Great location good prices on the Gran Via
Very helpful and friendly perfect location on the Gran Via but not the rowdy side. Older building and elevator, but it always worked. Don't judge by entrance hotel is on second floor every thing was clean staff friendly owner tries to accommodate your needs. Hot water plentiful. Would defiantly stay again.
