1 semaine à Madère

Posted 18-Jul-2016

Would return, lovely quinta in convenient position

Posted 21-Jun-2016
Pros: Small and friendly, very pretty Quinta with lovely garden and pool area in contrast to soulless large hotels in 'hotel strip'. Convenient position.
Cons: Evening meals instead of just snacks would encourage visitors to stay and use bar facilities and lovely balcony. Some furnishing updates needed.
Location: Can walk to old town and harbour but bus stop very convenient for hotel. Several lovely restaurants nearby. Wouldn't bother with hotel strip again.
Overall, a very pleasant place to stay which could easily be improved but nothing detracted from our enjoyment of the visit. The cosmetic improvements needed might even diminish the 'shabby chic' feel of the place. Everything about it (apart from the pillows perhaps) was ideal for us as we prefer small unpretentious hotels especially without the inflated prices that 'boutique' hotels charge. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Although only a 15 minute walk to the harbour and 20 mins to the old town, the busses made trips convenient (5 minutes and cooler on a hot day). Onward travel to all areas of the island for sightseeing and walking was easy. Altogether it was a wonderful first visit to Madeira. We would definitely recommend the island and the hotel to friends. Thanks to the staff and best wishes for the future.

Nice little friendly hotel

Posted 27-May-2016
Pros: Small, friendly, helpful staff
Cons: Beds very hard
Location: Ideal location
Nice hotel with all the facilities you need. We had a ground floor room by the small swimming pool which was ideal. Much nicer than the enormous bland anomimous hotel. Good location. 30 minute strioll downhill to old town with gardens on the way. Euro 1.95 bus back up the hill. Plenty of places to eat nearby.

Schönes kleineres Hotel relativ nach zum Zentrum

Posted 17-May-2016

Lovely old building, big airy rooms, great views

Posted 06-Apr-2016
Pros: Kind, helpful staff, Large airy rooms, close to town & public transport.
Cons: Wi-Fi only available in the lobby. Very comfortable sofas there, but a bit limited. No restaurant but shuttle bus service to other Quality Hotels.
Location: Good views over the town. Next to bus stops for the "hop on, hop off" buses, the airport bus, and lots of other buses. Good little supermarkets nearby
First holiday in Madeira - lovely island, lots of sunshine, clean & safe place to be.
