The resort is ideally placed for visiting the east of the island of Madeira. It nestles on the leeward side of the windswept Pont do Sao Lorenco and takes the form of a small village, complete with church and its own marina. Everything is very Madeiran, yet modern, spacious and well appointed. You are never very far from one of the resort's three swimming pools, and a short walk from the marina, with its cafe, mini-mart and shops. Form several vantage points, like the church square, you can enjoy sweeping views of the ocean looking towards Machico.
Food was also excellent, with generous buffet breakfast and a first class restuarant. Our room was outstanding, with high airy ceilings and a magnificent bathroom. Our only complaint would be the tiny supply of tea, coffee and milk in the room, which did not include any decaffeinated options - although no doubt these would have been supplied, on request.
