In centre of town of Ludlow

Posted 22-Aug-2018
Pros: Fantastic location/wonderful history/beautiful outside façade - desperately needs a lot of TLC
Cons: EVGERYTHING
Location: St. Lawrence Church/Ludlow Castle/wonderful walks/beautiful local historic buildings. No night life/not many restaurants open evenings mid August
You must be joking! It was like Fawlty Towers as it had gone into receivership two days before we arrived. The skeleton staff were AMAZING. It had Legionnaires Disease in part of the hotel, no meals obviously but even the bar licence had been withdrawn. THEN the receivers shut the lift down so the second floor could only be reached by stairs. We did have a laugh and hope someone comes in to restore it to it's former glory.

Really want it to have £££££ spent

Posted 04-Aug-2018 on Hotels
The hotel had issues and most rooms were closed together with the restaurants and bars. Therefore there was no breakfast or dinner. Most disappointed Hotel.com had not told us in advance. However the staff were very nice and gave us an upgrade on the room and reduced the price. The hotel is lovely but needs updating as many features date from the 1970s and 1980s rather than the the 17th or 21st centuries.

Very old hotel with so much history, but it was like going back into the 1950's. Very dated, but staff cheerful and room well appointed and comfortable. Very central location, it was a good overnight stay and I am sure overseas tourists would enjoy, but not really suitable for disabled as many corridors and fire doors to manoeuvre

Hotel closed due to outbreak of legionella. No-one had notified us but hotel staff said that they had notified EXPEDIA and it was their responsibility to let us know as expedia do not give hotel contact details. Feel badly let down having travelled 250 miles and then having to find alternative acommodation

Terrific

Historic building with so much character but rooms were quite adequate. Can't beat the historic flair and bar staff were spot on. Highly recommend, be aware lots of stairs and walking, even to 1st floor rooms. We did not mind.

Comfortable rambling historic hotel

Posted 24-Mar-2018 on Hotels
Creaky sloping floors and rambling access to comfortable and reasonably spacious room. Bathroom was split level with 3 steps leading from bath over shower to w.c. and wash basin. T.V. and tea/coffee making in room. Ancient exposed beams gave character and quirkiness to room. Service excellent. limited free car parking for guests.

Nice old hotel

Lovely looking hotel. Excellent breakfast. Expensive dinner. Very ordinary room that smelt overpoweringly of cleaning fluid. Staff very good.
