This is a difficult review to write as I do not wish to be too negative about this hotel, as it does have lots going for it, but having the right room can make or break your stay.
First the good things.
Location is brilliant. You are opposite the railway station if you are travelling a lot by trains, and just minutes from the old town, the wooden bridges, and the shops.
The front desk staff were always accomodating, friendly and efficient, as best they could be within the usual constraints of running a hotel.
For some reason a particular request for a bath was not communicated to the hotel, but we were promised a new room the next day. This was great, except that new room was located on the side street, opposite a night club. The windows do not effectively block out noise, so we were awoken at 1:30 am and again at 4 am with young people leaving the establishment in full voice.
That destroyed any chance of a good sleep. We requested a change of room the next day and were placed in a room on the 5th floor facing the main street. This room proved wonderful. It also had black out shutters which allowed us to open the window for ventilation and keep the room dark and keep noise levels to a minimum.
The hotel are aware of the noise issues on the side street rooms and get constant complaints from guests, but I do not know if they are doing anything pro actively to address the issue.
The breakfasts were adequate, with minimal choice and little change from day to day.

"Beautiful views, convenient location, great staff"
Hotel Seeburg is a beautiful lake-side hotel that is conveniently located to the main train station (10 minute bus ride) and the Swiss Transportation Museum (10 minute walk). It also offers the serenity and quietness of living next to the lake - nice views! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, and allowed me to do early check-in as well as store my luggage on my check-out day.
Home to nearly 60,000 people, Lucerne, on Lake Lucerne, is primarily a tourist destination due to its natural beauty of the lake and nearby Swiss Alps. The Chapel Bridge, a wooden bridge from the 14th century, is a top tourist attraction. Lucerne also boasts the Swiss Transport Museum exhibiting all forms of transport, including trains, cars, ships, and aircraft.
