Far enough to all must-see sights

Unfortunately did not come any close to our minimum expectations. First of all, the room size was too small and the bed was low-risen in height from the flooring making it very uneasy. Other negative points are, the bathroom had only a very small shower area and giving it a totally unhealthy look. As we checked in on 7/09/12 the people at the reception viz. Brigette and Reme were courteous and well behaved compared to the rude and ugly behavior of Mr. Didien at the time of our departure early morning around 5:30 AM on 7/10/2012. This is the truth and I will never recommend this hotel to anybody.

Needs implrovement

my credit card was charged eventhough, I was e-mailed to cancel the reservation on 02/18/09 that was 5 days before the check in time on 02/23/09. I still have a response letter with the acknowledgement of cancellation. The statement from the policy is: We understand that sometimes plans fall through. We do not charge a change or cancel fee. However, this property (Arcades Hotel) imposes the following penalty to its customers that we are required to pass on: Cancellations or changes made after 12:00 PM (Romance Standard Time) on 02/22/2009 are subject to a 1 Night Room & Tax penalty. The property makes no refunds for no shows or early checkouts

train came in late and he got us something to eat when we arrived at 12 midnight which was very tasty too!

Good choice if everything else is booked

Breakfast is ok, room is as small as it gets, if you only plan to go to the hotel to sleep and really expect nothing more it is ok. Otherwise do go somewhere else.

The exterior of the hotel looks quite different from the artist rendition that was shown on the website. It is a bit more tired looking as the looby, dining areas, and rooms. When one goes to Lourdes, it is not usually for the purpose of lounging around nor enjoying the nightlife but rather as a religious pilgrimage and for this purpose the hotel is adequate. All the areas of the hotel including our room were very clean. The decor leaves much to be desired but not tacky. I certainly would not call this a 3 star hotel. It is in my honest opinion a 2 star hotel considering that our room did not have air conditioning, the room and bathrooms were quite small (literally half of regular sized hotel rooms in the US), the beds were not luxurious, etc. I do have to say that the staff were very helpful.

Austere and cold

The hotel is well worn. Fitting for a pilgramage for people with horse hair clothing. When I arrived it was hot, the rooms air conditioning could not be altered. The it got cold and the heater copuld not be turned on. The room was small, the TV did not work and the remote was not functional. The breakfast was poor although the coffee good and strong. The thing is that people come to Lourdes not for comfort but for another experience and just want to kip.
