The lodge in a safe residential area from all appearances. We arrived just after 9:00 pm and was checked in quickly. It was a very cold and windy night. The host at the front desk went the extra mile and looked on her security camera to see if there were any open parking spaces in the back of the property where our room was so we be close to ur assigned room. She did, and that saved us the hassle of a long walk in bad weather to our room. We were tired after a long drive, and ended the night feeling grateful for her great customer service! It's the little things that count!

This is an old property and you feel it the moment you walk in. Old carpet, bathroom smelled like smoke which was really irritating. My feeling was, the property was bulit in the 70's or 80's and nothing has really been done to update it since. You couldn't even go into the lobby to check in. Had to check in via "night window". So we were not thrilled with this place but if you are on a tight budget and just need a decent place it's ok. I would not have wanted to stay long here.

Nice big room, great for our dog with pet area, big bathroom with 2-person shower and enough room for our surf boards that we didn't want to leave in the parking lot overnight. Nice mini-fridge with Keurig coffee maker. Comfy bed/sheets, but pillows were a bit flat and hard (I'm a side sleeper). Otherwise, great location and great price

This is my go-to place to stay and have family stay when visiting Santa Cruz. It's safe, clean and reasonably priced, but still walking distance to the wharf and boardwalk and downtown.

I was disappointed. The people I checked in and out with were great! The room itself not so much. The worst of the worst was that the bathroom had one light and when you used it an extremely loud fan went on. To avoid it I took a shower by flashlight. Also there were scant outlets for electronics.

We asked to move rooms because the first room had a stained bedspread and the bedside table lamps didn’t work. The front desk girl was lovely and accommodating. The rooms are dated and could use a refresh.

Great little spot to walk to the Boardwalk- about 5 minutes. There’s a soccer park right across the street and it was used all day. If you need it quiet, this isn’t the spot for that. The room was as expected. Had everything I needed and was clean. There’s even a little keurig machine.

The proximity to the beach, boardwalk and shops was great. However, the overall safety did not give a secure feeling. The hotel was loud (which they addressed in a clever way with the earplugs and note which I appreciated) but left a feeling of the hotel being a party destination. There were many people conjugating in the parking lot and around the. building.

My family of four love this hotel. The pool was not heated this time of year but the hot tub was nice and warm for a dip. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The location between downtown and the pier-boardwalk area is perfect for a quick visit.

On one of the coldest nights in Santa Cruz; the heater, TV, and light switches were broken. the room was carpeted and smelled of mildew. We didn’t get in until late and were too tired to request a new room. When checking out I gave the front desk clerk a heads up about the room. His response was “well did you call maintenance?”. No apology or anything, just an accusation. Highly recommend that you avoid this place
