High-quality self-catering furnished studios for short-term rental are difficult to find in London and consequently expensive (average daily rates over £100 on sites like Airbnb) so I consider myself very lucky to have discovered The White Horse. As the name suggests, it's an old Victorian pub which has recently been converted into stylish and comfortable studio apartments with all mod-cons. The original high ceilings create a sense of spaciousness and some of the original features such as sash window frames, high skirting and ceiling cornices have been retained adding a period touch to what are effectively brand new studios. Central heating is more than adequate and the spacious shower cubicle delivers a powerful blast of hot water. Charlton is located about 10 miles from Central London. It's an area of South East London with a strong industrial heritage which has been undergoing something of a transformation in recent years along with neighbouring Woolwich. Right behind the building is an extensive area of woodland park, one of those hidden gems which make London such a joy to visit. It takes a little over half an hour to get to London Bridge (bus 161 or 472 to North Greenwich tube station, then onto the Jubilee line). Historic Greenwich is an easy 15-20 minute bus ride (bus 177 or 180). .Perhaps the only drawback, the nearest big supermarkets (Sainsbury and M&S) are a 1.5 mile walk away at Charlton Riverside Place, on the main road going towards Greenwich.
