Decent, but not special, except the pool

Posted 24-Apr-2016
Pros: Gym and pool
Cons: Hallways, and breakfast
Location: High Street Kensington shopping
The pool and gym were nice, the place is not terribly spiffy, and the breakfast buffet is really dull, and coffee is bad. Staff is very nice, room was clean. Good for the price in London, but not memorable.

Great hotel adjacent to High St Kensington tube

Posted 22-Apr-2016
I stay in London regularly and this is the best hotel yet - quiet, convenient and comfy. It felt like I was waking up in my own bed. Staff were fantastic also.

Good value for money

Posted 22-Apr-2016
Pros: Service and breakfast were good.
Cons: Internet was 10 pounds for 2Gb which was more than my roaming charges. Free Internet, even in the lobby area would bring me back there one day.
Location: The hotel is close to underground station and my Gatwick trips back and forth to downtown worked smoothly. Taxis stand by in front of hotel as well.
Hotel in all was in British standards decent. Only minus comes from the walls and doors in the room which gave no sound suppression. Soft and thick pillows compensated the poor wall insulation.

Nice but small

Posted 20-Apr-2016
Nice clean room however very small. Staff were very friendly. The hotel is very convenient for Kensington. They even looked after our bags when we had checked out.

Never again...

Posted 20-Apr-2016
Pros: The doorman was very helpful, and the only member of staff we saw who smiled!
Cons: Just about everything could be improved. They've obviously invested in the lobby, spa and conference facilities rather than the rooms.
We arrive very early following a transatlantic flight as we wanted to dump our luggage, and planned to go into central London until a room was ready. However, we were told that a room would probably be available around lunchtime so hung around Kensington. When we checked just before lunchtime, we were told something would be available "shortly" so joined the massed crowds, sitting surrounded by luggage in the huge lobby and bar area. On the third ask, we were told no rooms would be released before 3pm in line with check in policy. If we'd been told this first thing, we wouldn't have wasted the day hanging around the hotel. Our key was issued at 3pm precisely - just as a scheduled fire drill started, and the lifts locked down. Once we got to the room, the curtains were too narrow to cover the window so the street lights flooded in all night, and drawing them covered you in dust. Some of the lightbulbs in the room didn't work. The shower screen had mould along the base of it - just at eye level when sitting in the bath. The rest of the bathroom is barely useable due to it's tiny size. The stains on the duvet showed through the covers. Wifi is way too expensive. Got the feeling that unless you are Delta crew, they didn't want to know - backed up by the fact that when we raised the issues with the room on check out, we were asked if we would like to talk to the manager. When we took them up on the offer, we were told the manager was too busy to talk to us.

A good experience. The only thing I would mention is that internet should be included in the cost and not be an extra payment.

Ville valgt et annet hotell neste gang

Posted 18-Apr-2016

Second and Last Time

Posted 14-Apr-2016
Pros: the breakfast was okay
Cons: major remodeling would be necessary
Location: High Street Kensington was two blocks away, and Kensington Palace, Royal Albert Hall and that area of Kensington that is still stylish were nearby
I stayed there about 35 years ago and decided not to return. This year I couldn't get reservations for the time period for my usual so I decided that the hotel had probably survived by upgrading the facilities. They hadn't. The single traveler rooms were still about 1960's caliber. Since they had some flight crews staying there I presume that they did upgrade one token part of the building.

gut gelegenes sauberes Hotel mit schönen Zimmern

London ist wie immer eine wunderschöne Stadt, die ausreichend Unterhaltung bietet. Leider ist diese Stadt aber auch sehr teuer.
