Great location for walking

Posted 24-Apr-2017
The hotel is fine, it's greatest feature being its location. At first we were put in a room with no real window and after 2 days we asked to switch rooms. They accommodated us nicely and our second room was much nicer (never underestimate the importance of light). I felt fine about the hotel but there was nothing special about it to entice me to go again. The people who work there are very nice.

Great visit to London, staying at a very conveniently located hotel (walking distance to many attractions). Facilities were clean, bar/restaurant area was great, and staff were very accommodating.

Easter weekend break

Posted 22-Apr-2017
Best location in central London with Trafalgar Square on its doorstep, jubilee footbridges at one end taking you across the embankment in minutes, 15 minutes walk to Houses of Parliament, Downing Street & Jorsehuards Parade around the corner and many shops and cafes just outside. Charing Cross tube stop is on Trafalgar Square and there is a Big Bus stop around the corner. All staff we had contact with were extremely polite and accommodated every one of our requests. It definitely earns all its 4 stars in terms of decor, comfort and amenities. Would def stay here again.

Beautiful old style hotel near Trafalgar Square

Posted 19-Apr-2017
Pros: The ambiance, the staff, the location
Cons: A ramp for bringing suitcases to and from the street to the door.
Location: Centrally located, public transportation--National Art Gallery, not far from theaters if you like walking. Can walk to Buckingham Palace.
I ordered our 6 day stay at this hotel online. We were travelling with our 13 year old grandson and reserved a large room with kitchenette and a movable partition between our bed and the sofa that opened up into a double bed. I was so pleasantly surprised when we came into the room and it was exactly as shown in the photo--very large, lovely well appointed kitchenette (microwave, ceramic hob, fridge, dishes and cutlery for four, toaster, dish rack, towels and more). We were greeted upon arrival by Maria at reception who was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The style is old world--19th century, but very well kept and with all the needed conveniences. We were on the second floor and there is a large lounge there with free computers, newspapers every day. The hotel has a free laundromat (though we didn't use it, but this is great), a gym, a restaurant. The only complaint we had was our attempt to eat at the hotel's pizzeria and after being seated we were ignored completely by the staff--so we left. The location is terrific, right next to Trafalgar Square and the Charing Cross Underground station. There are a few restaurants on the street. We would definitely recommend it to our friends.

In the middle of everything

Posted 16-Apr-2017
Pros: Central location, Several restaurants on site- ate there several times.
Location: See above
The Grand was excellent. The location is the best - a few blocks south of the National Gallery which is just south of the the West End theater district. The Charing Cross tube station is up the street at Trafalgar Square and is centrally located. Lots of restaurants and pubs nearby. Would stay there again.
