Excellent location

Comfortable and quite room, wasn't very clean though( was offered free breakfast to compensate) Food is so over-priced for a very average meal. Service is very good for a busy hotel. Reception staff are very prompt and professional. Bar staff however not, poor girl looked like she just did 18 hour shift, took us time to get noticed and the cocktails we had were far from original recipe. The only plus is two minute walk to your terminal.

Birthday Surprise

Posted 16-Aug-2016
Travelled to Gatwick for the start of a surprise Birthday trip for my partner and stayed here the night before. The hotel, the room and staff were brilliant, the luxury lounge was a bonus, I can't fault this hotel at all, would Definately stay here again. I would recommend upgrade to the luxury room for access to the lounge

Very convenient for early flights

Posted 15-Aug-2016
Pros: The bed and convenience to the airport. Soundproofing.
Cons: The water pressure and room size for 3 guests.
Location: Close proximity to London
We chose the Sofitel at the North Tower because we needed to check in for our flight back to the U.S before 8 am and did not want to deal with the hassle of leaving London and fighting with the traffic or trains to Gatwick. Our check in was smooth and because we were Expedia Rewards members our room was upgraded and we received a discount on our room service charges. We arrived at about 8:00 p.m. after taking the train from Edinburgh and we did not want to deal with having to find a restaurant. We checked in and immediately ordered room service. We were notified that since they were busy, it would be an hour until we got our food. It arrived in 50 minutes and was still hot. The food was good. The room we had was on the small side for 2 adults and 1 child, but since we were only there for less than 12 hours, we didn't mind so much. If it was for a longer stay, it would have been very cramped. Even though our room faced the tarmac for the South Terminal, I don't think we heard any airport traffic. The bed was VERY comfortable and I was sad that I was unable to sleep longer. My only complaint was the water pressure in our bathroom seemed a little weak compared to other hotels we had stayed at on this trip. We will definitely stay at the Sofitel again should we need to fly out of Gatwick early in the morning.

Right in the North Terminal

Posted 09-Aug-2016
Pros: Right in the North Terminal
Cons: 12% automatic gratuity charge on 3 pints in the bar. I thought that was a bit cheeky
Stayed for 1 night. Staff were nice. Food was good. The room was clean and quiet.

Very nice hotel, right in Gatwick Airport

Posted 08-Aug-2016
Pros: The beds, the size, the location.
Cons: The room service/ training for room attendants.
We really enjoyed our 1 night stay at the Sofitel in Gatwick Airport. The room was spacious, clean and very well appointed (compared to the terrible parisian hotel we encountered). The bed was extremely comfortable and felt like a cloud! The only thing that was disappointing was when we called down for room service the person on the phone was extremely rude and unhelpful. He mentioned that we didn't have a credit card on file (never got asked for one) and that he couldn't give us any room service (after he took our order). When my husband inquired if he could just give him his credit card at the door or over the phone the man said that we would have to go all the way down to give it to the front desk (clearly he missed the point of getting room service). As we were there for only one night we didn't bother. An unfortunate incident that could have been dealt with a lot better, considering everything else was wonderful.
