We were a party of 6. We had just finished a business meeting and wanted to sit outside on the veranda/terrace to get some fresh air.
Our intention was to eat outside.
However, it was so unpleasant there that we didn't feel comfortable and weren't able to use it. As a result, we actually left the hotel and dined elsewhere.
Firstly, at every table people were smoking and considering it's a relatively small space it was impossible to avoid the smoke itself.
In 2019, smoking with food/ drinking is no longer socially acceptable.
Secondly, the area was dirty. The floor had litter all around while the tables hadn't been cleaned for some time. There were plates with leftover food on them, used glasses/ cups which some people had used for cigarette butts.
All in all, the veranda/ terrace looked tired, jaded and downbeat. Cheap and nasty.
Designate this a smoke-free zone.
Fit a see-through roof.
Install effective but subtle lighting.
Make it a stylish & welcoming outside area.
Ensure it's always clean & litter free.
So, either renovate or remove it.
Because as it is, it seriously downgrades the hotel's image.
