Great location, attentive staff
The Melia White House Hotel was perfect for us. The hotel is super close to 2 tube stops. We took public transportation everywhere we went.
You can also pick up the bus tours at the end of the block. (Although I would NOT recommend doing that. Instead, take the tube down to the beginning of the sites you want to see - and pick up your bus tour from there. You'll save about 90 minutes of pretty boring drive around the hotel areas.)
But back to the hotel... The service was stellar for a 4 star hotel. From the doormen to reception to room service and bar, every single person was warm, friendly and helpful.
The room and bathroom are small for US standards, but pretty normal sized for European hotel rooms. The bed was comfortable and the area is quiet, making it easy to doze right off to sleep.
The water pressure in the shower was strong, and I liked that the water was soft. The one issue is that there's a bit of a climb up into the tub/shower, so if you have mobility issues, I would ask if they have rooms that can accommodate you better than the one we had. The shower door does swing wide open, so perhaps I just was doing it wrong - should have been sitting on the ledge instead of stepping up. We didn't have any problems, but I couldn't help thinking that my parents (who are 80) probably would.
There's a mini bar with space to store a few of your own things, a big TV, and a nice desk to work at. Would definitely stay here again!!!
