Very comfortable hotel

Posted 20-Apr-2016
Booked standard room but upgraded to 'The Level' on arrival for a reasonable price. Davide on reception very helpful. Glad we upgraded - very comfortable room and excellent facilities - free tapas and drinks in lounge in evening and very good breakfast.

Hotel très agréable

Posted 09-Apr-2016

Tired, dreary hotel with uninterested staff. avoid

Posted 07-Apr-2016
Pros: location
Cons: Staff attitude. Get rid of the old smell of smoke, provide tea and coffee making facilities. Sign the lifts better.
Location: regents cinema is great!
Staff unhelpful so it took me 40 minutes to get from the checkin into my room. Room smelt badly of smoke. Lift is hard to use .. if you stand in front of a lift you cannot see the lift buttons, you have to walk round the corner to see them. Tiny bathroom. Weird waterproof undersheet that crackled. No tea of coffee making facilities that I could find! No free water bottles (this is unusual in any London hotel over £125 a night). Room dark. Window had been left open, perhaps to help dissipate the smoke (which was less bad on the second night). Room service menu is a joke.

A necessity stay, never to return

Posted 06-Apr-2016
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Service, decor, food
Location: Only plus is proximity to airport
The staff were slow on check in, phone not working in room, drains blocked, renovations underway in hotel, in-room dining did not answer phone, breakfast buffet more of a fast-food chain than 4 star hotel.

Should not be a 4 star

Posted 21-Mar-2016
Pros: nothing
I thought I would be getting good value for this 4 star, centrally located hotel but unfortunately the rating of this hotel should be more around a 2 star.I travel a lot and first time in my life I encounter a hotel bed that is too short. I am only 1.78 (5'10) and my feet were out of the bed. That's because the rooms are so small, it looks like they had to build non standard beds to fit in. Check in took 10 minutes despite going through Expedia. I confirmed breakfast to be included and in the first morning had breakfast, 2nd morning somehow the system did not show it. Despite insisting, the staff would not allow me to have complimentary breakfast (10gbp value!). The guest floors and rooms all have an old building smell. NO surprise as everything in this hotel looks and feels old depite some weak attempts at modernizing

Reasonably Nice Hotel

Posted 18-Mar-2016
Pros: Good: Price, attractive, good location, nice room, friendly staff.
Cons: To Improve: Staff is very friendly, but you always get a feeling that things are rather disorganized or poorly thought out.
Location: Madam Tussaud's, Regent's Park, Primrose Hill.
Location: Well located near Regent's Park, Great Portland St. station and Warren St. station. Initial impression: The hotel looks nice from the outside and is not a post-war eye sore like some of the buildings in the area. Inside, the ceilings are a bit low, but the decor and lobby are attractive and in good condition. Check in: As is typical with Melia, the staff always seems a bit disorganized and this check-in was no different. We had a reservation that took some time to find. The reservation was pre-paid, but the staff person tried to charge our card anyway (this was later corrected by another staff member). Check-in is usually slow and don't be surprised if you see long lines. Room: A cozy room with a king-size bed. The room is attractive and fitting for a 4-star hotel. However, there are odd touches, like the anti-theft clothes hangers and the need to keep you key in the electrical switch slot by the door - these are more like a 2-star hotel. The shower had a leak such that water pooled on the bathroom floor with the shower turned on. Otherwise, everything was nice, comfortable, and in good working order. The mini-bar was well stocked which is not as common as it used to be. Bed was comfortable. Room service: good quality food, though it arrived a bit cold (not unusual, but also not what you'd expect at a 4-star hotel). Staff was very friendly.
