I usually avoid staying in pub accommodation mainly because they are often noisy but the Fox and Grapes was very quiet. It is situated on a quiet street at the far side of Wimbledon Common but within Few minutes walk of Wimbledon Village where you will easily find food to suit your mood (Italian, Thai, Indian, Chinese, pub food etc.) You could of course also eat in the bar which has typical gastro-pub fare. The menu is notvextensive but adequate and the quality is very good. It is however, , as with all gastr-pubs, a little on the expensive side.
My room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable: double bed, television, table and chair plus tea, coffee and biscuits.
The ensuite shower room (no bath but not a big deal for me) was spotlessly clean and the usual shower gel, shampoo and moisturising cream supplied.
Rooms are cutely named after the Wombles, I was with Madam Cholet.
Continental breakfast comes with the room and available from 8:00am which was a little late for me as I had to leave at 7:00 but I mentioned this in the evening and was offered a breakfast basket outside my door in the morning. This I accepted and so had croissant, cereals, orange juice and jams as soon as I awoke and really appreciated.
I seldom write more than a couple of lines in a review so apologies for the essay but the fox and Grapes and her staff deserve more.!
Four stars from me :)
