Nice and handy hotel to catch a flight.

Posted 27-Aug-2016
We arrived a bit late - 10ish - and were a bit surprised to see that room service wasn't available anymore. We still manage to have a bite at the bar though. Room was big but lacking of proper lighting. We couldn't switch on the over lamp in the corner. Unfortunately we had to leave very early - 4 - so we didn't have a chance to have breakfast.

Great location to Gatwick Airport

Posted 18-Aug-2016
Pros: Convenient location to the airport
Cons: For the price internet access should be included.
Location: There is a great pub, The 6 Belles, in Horley that is a short taxi ride away. Also a grocery store is a short ways away.
We had an overnight stay as we had an early morning flight. We have stayed here previously. Room was good but we had a room that looked into the courtyard and the lights were on all night.

Pros: Proximity to LGW terminals
Cons: 24 Buffet Breakfast
Location: 15 mins walk from LGW South Terminal
Family with two large teenagers shared a room prior to a silly-o'clock flight. Room was clean and comfy and within walking distance of the terminals

Air Conditioning did not work

Posted 11-Aug-2016
Pros: Clean, breakfast, location.
Cons: Air conditioning..staff that lied, did not care, or actually thought I was stupid enough to believe that air conditioning needs 1 hour to start workin
Location: Airport...nothing to do nearby.
The Air Conditioning did not work in my room. The staff moved me to another room on the 1st floor. That rooms A/C also was not working well. The staff told me that if I turned the fan up it would get cooler. It did not. I slept in a humid non fully air conditioned room. We typically have our home at approximately 78. So the fact that it was uncomfortable for us proves that the A/C was not working. The staff member put his hand to the air that was blowing and we reduced it to 60 degrees and told me a story that it would get cooler over time. I complained and he returned and told me that it felt cool to him. I took him to the hall which was air conditioned then back into my room and asked if that felt the same. He told me that it needed more time to cool the room. He was either lying, covering up the flaw in their air conditioning that night or didn't care. The air never blew cool and was always luke warm and it was set to 60. They gave me a free breakfast for this which was nice but I would have rather paid for the breakfast then sleep in those conditions.

Nice rooms, great restaurant

Posted 01-Aug-2016
Pros: The restaurant
Cons: Air conditioning
Our family of 4 stayed here for one night waiting for a connection flight. The hotel is walkable from the South Terminal but not from the the North; take the shuttle and it's 3 pounds for adults, children 16 years old and younger are free. The rooms are nice but the air conditioning cannot cool the room properly so it was warm and hard to sleep if you like it cold. The restaurant was surprisingly good for a hotel and recommended for a nice dinner.

Great customer service

Posted 30-Jul-2016
We booked to stay one night prior to a flight. I phoned ahead to check shuttle information and got a very courteous and detailed response. Then we arrived much earlier than we expected but we were not due to check in until 3pm. Staff on the desk were excellent and organised a room for us at 10am so we could leave our luggage and take the kids out for the day. Hotel facilities were good and the room was better than I expected. Excellent value for money made even better by the super helpful and friendly staff.

Nice Hotel situated at Gatwick Airport BUT !!

Posted 29-Jul-2016
Pros: The room was excellent and the restaurant was very good -- if a bit pricey. Ideal, right by the airport with buses going round every 20 minutes.
Cons: Reception Desk Staff -- some of them could not understand or speak English -- Why would Marriott employ staff without these fundamentals. Low salary !
Location: 30 mins. to Winston Churchill's home of Chartwell, Kent. Great day out, beautiful grounds, with home and painting studio access. Excellent.
Overall it was a good experience however, the parking situation needs to be improved --- if you are expecting to park there overnight its a real challenge. The majority of the spaces are taken by rental cars for returning or incoming renters. Chaotic is a good representative description. Reception Desk Staff -- some of them could not understand or speak English -- Why would Marriott employ staff without these fundamentals. Probably because they are low salary immigrants ! However, when you are paying high room rates you expect something better.

Nice hotel 8 minutes walk from Gatwick

Posted 27-Jul-2016
Very nice, clean, high quality linens'. The breakfast was great. Cooked options, fruit, pastries, cereal etc. The only downer was the lack of free wifi. Having to pay for internet was disappointing.
