Wonderful facilities

Posted 23-Aug-2016
Pros: Spa, room.
Cons: The bar lacked atmosphere. We were overcharged at checkout.
Location: A country hotel.
We booked the basic price room, and it's was excellent - decor and facilities. The award winning spa was 5 * standard. Good quality English breakfast.

Ok for a wedding but not a great place to relax !!

Posted 29-Jul-2016 on Hotels
The room was lovely - felt light and the white and blue decor gave it a great seaside feel. However the rest of the hotel was a little disappointing with overpriced food and very little atmosphere. Not a great place to relax so we walked along the the Red Fox pub down the road which was lovely loads of atmosphere and great sensibly prove food. All in all we wanted somewhere to real. For the weekend but this was more of a wedding venue - so overall disappointing I'd say.

Convenient location for our weekend away

Posted 31-May-2016
Pros: The staff were very pleasant, food of good quality, the pool area and the facilities are a massive plus! Rooms are clean and tidy
Cons: There was no safe in the room which was a bit disappointing. Also the corridors are a bit tired and need tidying
Location: About a 25 minute journey to/ from Liverpool or Chester, lovely surrounding scenery with golf courses, beaches and walks all within easy reach
We stayed here for a weekend break to visit the area. We found the hotel to be clean, set in lovely grounds with good facilities. The staff were really friendly and gave us good information about the area, booked cabs for us, etc. We had afternoon tea when we arrived and I found this to offer good value for money compared to others I have experienced. The breakfast was nice, but food required replenishing both mornings that we stayed. The pool area was fantastic and I really liked the snow cave.

Nice hotel and spa, shame about other guests

Posted 16-Mar-2016 on Hotels
The hotel is a lovely old building surrounded by quaint villages and countryside, with an annex attached with lots more rooms in a nice location with good staff and facilities. Cheshire Oaks is nearby for shopping and so too is Chester. The tv in our room was a smart tv so we could log into our Netflix account! However, our stay at the hotel was marred with the memory of a very loud drunk group staying in the hotel who were up very late (3am) drinking in their rooms and making lots of noise, disturbing us and other guests on a Friday night. Not what to expect from a spa weekend away. The night staff couldn't control them. Our complaint was handled well with sympathy the next day by the manager, so some credit back to them and on that basis we would consider giving the hotel another chance. However, with it being a popular wedding venue, I'm now not sure how the hotel would separate celebrating tipsy guests from those looking to relax.
