Everything including the Village was delightful. We had a lovely, relaxing, stay. Everyone were so helpful and friendly. The hotel is right on the ocean and a 3 minute walk gets you the Atlantic.

It is an older property so be prepared for less offerings but it was as beautiful as were all the hotels we stayed in in Portugal. Proximity to the beach and dining was truly great. And as always the Portuguese people were amazing,

Great view comfortable rooms need update staff bad
We checked in around 10:00 PM. Paula was great the rest of the staff was not. They acted like it was a pain to have us checking in. When we asked where the breakfast was served, how to get to the pool etc. the front desk workers said everything is downstairs. Breakfast was not good. Coffee was horrible. We had to ask for silverware. We had to ask for glasses, napkins The staff was very unhelpful and didn’t want to help with anything We skipped breakfast the 2nd day. It took us 4 tries to find the SPA. ( It’s hidden in the basement down a glassed in walkway. My massage was a 3 out of 5). The location of this hotel is a 5 star! The pool area has been updated and looked lovely. They weren’t providing towels. The interior of the hotel is badly in need of a renovation. The rooms with a view of the ocean have a large balcony with an amazing view, but only have 2 uncomfortable plastic chairs and a small table. This hotel has great potential. Being here reinforced the importance if staff training which this place LACKED. The beds were comfortable and the room was quiet. Good AC. Towels throughout the entire hotel rooms and SPA need to be retired. They were bare and old. Shampoo and soap were horrible. They were very proud they were organic, which is great, but they didn’t work!

This property has a wonderful location with great views. Keep in mind, this property is older, and doesn’t have some of the features you would expect in a 4 star hotel (no coffee maker in the room, lack of outlets/charging stations by the bed, have to pay for the safe).

We were only at this hotel for one night, but the accommodations were clean, tidy, and the breakfast was good. The beach is right next to the hotel and it is beautiful!

An awesome stay here in Ericeira. Friendly and helpful staff, relaxed lounge, clean and spacious rooms (book one with an ocean view balcony if you can!), free parking and generous breakfast. Would stay again.

Great location within walking distance to town center and many dining options. Balcony rooms are bigger than the regular rooms, and face the ocean. Amenities are basic. Staff service is friendly. Great buffet breakfast spread. Parking is free on premise. Is the largest hotel in the beach town of Eirciera.

This somewhat, resort-like facility, is anything but. Rooms are carpeted and spacious; food is incredible; staff is generous & kind; and the amenities (including a spa - though no hot tub), are fantastic. Extended my stay 2x.

The rooms are old and tired and worn. Everything else was good to great. The front desk mgr was exceptional. Helpful about his town. Best things to do and where to get the best seafood meal in town. The view is wonderful. We would stay there again, even with the poor room size and condition. Easy access to the coast towns to the North.

Our family came to Ericeira to learn how to surf. Vila Gala has the best view of the ocean! It’s a very short walk to the center, you can play billiards and swim in the pool during downtime. We had an amazing time!

Great location with amazing views of the ocean and easy access to the historic core of ericeira. Pool area is very nice with multiple pools and great views. Interiors of hotel are in desperate need of updating and remodeling. Rooms are dark and smell old and tired. Staff is not well trained and inconsistent let alone not welcoming.

This hotel is more expensive than others close by but once you arrive you will appreciate that spending a little more is worth every penny. Other properties often do not have double glazing and this particular area in Ericeira can be noisy at night due to it being a very popular meeting point for after hours gatherings with loud music. Also there are daily collections of rubbish and when we stayed in other nearby accommodation we were woken up every morning at 8:10. This did not happen at Vila Gale, it was very quiet and relaxing. We will definitely return to this hotel.

I stayed in this hotel over 15 years ago and was disappointed to find that little or no updating had been carried out since then. The hotel is tired and overdue for refurbishment, rooms are small by modern standards. It's a shame because the resort has a lot to offer unfortunately Vial Gale has not kept up.

Great location relative but overall the property is a bit dated. Plus not sure have ever slept on a harder bed than they offered. Otherwise a nice enough place but not for what they want to charge per night. Still think of themselves as a luxury resort - it's not!

Fabulous location but rooms need refurb
Amazing location with fantastic views of the ocean and very convenient for the local bars and restaurants but the rooms and common areas are very tired and in need of refurbishment.

Beware of the mouldy rooms.
The hotel has such potential with an amazing location and views however bedrooms are old and in serious need of updating. Our biggest problem was the mould issue. The bathroom mould was overwhelming and we had to sleep with bathroom doors closed and bedroom windows open. If you havevallergies, stay away, we were miserable for 2 days. The carpet in the room is old, was dirty and you could see the mould where the carpet met the walls. we mentioned this issue at reception but got a lukewarm response. Based on that alone we would not go back, mould is a serious health concern. Additionally this hotel has no accomodations for disabled people, all room have bathtubs that are high, and the one safety bar available is not located in a position to help you in and out of the tub. Breakfast was average, altough a plentiful buffet. No covid measures of course, everyone touching everything. (Staff was masked thankfully). Overall, we loved lounging by the pool and listening to the waves crashing...and the view from our room was priceless, shame this mould issue will never bring us back.

Great stay! The property is old so rooms are small, but they are clean and well kept. The bathroom sparkled and the staff at the hotel very pleasant. Ericeira is one of my favorite spots. I upgraded to a balcony room with sea view -- definitely worth it!

This is a refurbished, older property, with a lot of history and character. We loved it. Having a room with a sea-view balcony was the right decision : beautiful. The staff was wonderful, very helpful and pleasant. First class service.
