We chose the hotel for it's proximity to the station, and were very happy overall. The room was very clean and well equipped, staff were helpful if somewhat baffled by our strange English requests for extra tea. As with all such hotels, it was not possible to open the windows so the room was stuffy. Potential guests beware of the baffling ' taxe de séjour' , (surely a 'staying tax' is the price of the room?), of 3.2 euro per night.
Hotel is located close to both railway stations and city square. Suitable for overnight stay. Room was clean and safe, however, lacked basics. No room safe. Supplied with 2 bath towels only. No hand towels, washers or tissues. Soap in a tube is supplied for washing hands, body and hair. We used our own. Didn't use dining room as it looked uninviting.
We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the beginning of September this year. Hotel is perfectly situated for Menin gate and town square.
Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful, rooms are excellent. Plenty of restaurants nearby and chocolate shops. A very enjoyable stay.
I chose this hotel for a one night stay because it was close to the train stations. We arrived at Lille Flanders and were leaving the next morning from the Eurostar station. It was within easy walking distance to local sights, shops and the TI office as well. The breakfast room offered coffee and tea all day and was a comfortable place to sit. We had a one bedroom unit with two twin beds. The kitchen is small but sufficient and the living room with the sofa bed was comfortable.
The room was lovely, actually. So was the location, right in the heart of one of the most sought after neighbourhoods of Lille and 1 min from metro station. Despite the name of the room, there was no bay window: only a mansard room roof.
My main disappointment has to do with the fact that this hotel was completely unmanned (one would hence wonder whether 'hotel' is not a misnomer). Check in was a polite texts with three codes with which I could let myself in to the hotel and then my room. I have to say that, particularly as a solo female traveler this was a bit spooky. The fact that doors opened out rather than into the room did not help my sense of security. The advertisement for the hotel should state that it is unmanned, for had I known, I would have booked somewhere else.
Once I got into the room a simple but reasonable breakfast was laid out on the little bar table and in the fridge. There was no welcome or other information (including wifi password) at all. I was there for business and needed wifi - I tried calling the number that was on the plaque outside of the house 3 times but to no avail. I ended up writing a text message to the unnamed person who gave me the codes and they got back to me after about 1 or 2 hours informing me that "the password is in the black folder". Unfortunately there was no black folder in my room. I texted right back, also asking about check out and payment but only got a text back the next day. This was very disappointing.
Opposite Lille Flandres station, & close to all amenities. Lille is a good base to work from as it has several modes of transport to many places. There is an underground, bus & 2railway stations. There is on old town well worth a visit. Many restaurants, &shops.
