DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL
Arrived at hotel to find it closed due to housing refugees. Neither the hotel nor yourselves contacted me prior to arriving there with this information. We had travelled quite a distance to attend a family function, all hotels in the area were fully booked, therefore the four of us (2 in our sixties and 2 in their eighties) ended up sleeping on relatives sofas. This is totally unacceptable on all counts. This is the 1st time I have used Hotels.com and the service provided does not encourage me to use you again.

Former glory
Last visit over 3 years ago and was a complete disaster. Now has new owners whom have spent time a money on bringing Scalford hall back up to its former glory. They still have a little way to go, but wish them all the best. Will return at sometime, it's amazing place, beautiful location.

Beautiful Views
Excellent location just outside of Melton Mowbray town but with the most stunning views across the valley. Historical and practical. I would definitely go again.

Fantastic getaway.
Had an excellent couple of nights at the Scalford Country House Hotel. The welcome was brilliant, friendly and informative. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions the restaurant was only open for breakfast which again was a limited menu but was more than enough and cooked to order, it was delicious. We where in one of the recently decorated rooms, this property is undergoing a complete refurbishment, the bed was really comfy and the room was well presented with a new bathroom, in all everything was great and the staff where extremely friendly and helpful.

Nice but needs updating
Lovely building, however the room was in need of a good redecoration as it was looking a bit dated and tired. Restaurant was closed due to CV 19 and made the hotel a bit bleak with no atmosphere. The guy on reception was helpful and very Covid friendly

The hotel looked lovely on approach. Welcome was good, screen up, hand gel etc tea and coffee supplied in a sealed bag and keys wiped with a sterile wipe and placed in a bowl for us to take, all good with covid guidelines. Then we were advised that the restaurant is closed, no breakfast available which was disappointing as we had paid extra for breakfast. We were offered a grab & go breakfast, which we declined. No hot water in the morning for a shower and on check out we were told the electric had cut out and the electrician was being called. We had to ask for a refund for our breakfast .overall an ok stay but felt we were the only guests and not looked after.

Thank you for your review, please accept our apologies for no hot water in the morning. This was due to an issue out of our control and has now been rectified. I am sorry that you felt you were not looked after, this is most unusual. The hotel is very quiet at the moment, hospitality has been hit hard by the last 5 months, but hopefully business will pick up soon. As we have only just re-opened on a reduced basis, cooked breakfasts will soon be served again, as will evening meals. We hope to welcome you in the future when times are busier. For a special family gathering which included many elderly guests, the hotel was brilliantly accommodating. Good meals, comfortable surroundings and a lovely warm atmosphere.

Excellent stay at a lovely hotel
The hotel staff were very welcoming and everything ran very smoothly. The breakfast on both mornings was delicious and very filling and Dinner both nights excellent quality, generous portions and good value for money. I would very much recommend this hotel, it deserves to be successful following the purchase by the new owners.

Overall excellant stay. Very friendly greating on check in . Room excellant, staff con mot be more help and interested in your visit and very knowledgable about the history of the manor . Food excellant And grounds are very grand .

Was Ok
The staff were great very friendly and helpful. There was a few niggles in the bathroom and some disruption from dogs in the room above. Have said that the overall stay was ok. The hotel gas just reopened with new staff and management so is currently a work in progress. I believe only a few of the rooms are being used at the moment while they get the place sorted out. With the enthusiasm of the staff I meet I believe Scalford Hall could and will be extremely good. Unfortunately not quite there yet

Great service!
I got there later than expected. The night concierge Mick was A-MAZE-ING!!! He made me feel welcome, got me a drink, and organised some food for me. In fact Mick made the stay to be honest!!
