Quiet and comfortable hotel, set in lovely grounds. Breakfast delicious.. some aspects of the building's decoration is a little tired due to the age of the property.

Amazing birthday weekend!
Booked a night away for my girlfriend's 40th birthday. We had an amazing time. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Abigail on reception and Ashleigh in the restaurant. The castle room was really comfortable and we will certainly be returning. The food was exceptional too. It really was the perfect little getaway that we needed. Thanks to Walworth Castle for a lovely weekend. Such a welcoming place!

Ashley was the epitome of a service professional. The dinner menu was fabulous, breakfast average. Heat in the room would have raised the rating.

Great nights stay
Staff at hotel are fab very polite and helpful. The lady on reception in particular. Hotel is beautiful location, a little tired in the rooms but all the social areas are just lovely. Restaurant is good and food plentiful

Walworth castle is tired and in need of renovation . It is not value for money . The room was poor . I have seen better student accommodation. The paint was peeling , the beds were obviously old and in need of an upgrade . There wasn’t a facility to make a hot drink or even bottled water . A bottle of water is provided on check out which is bizarre . The room it self was clean as was the bathroom and the bedding etc . We had a fire alarm which was set off by mistake by a guest which can happen . However once the alarm was stopped there was no attempt by the hotel to let us know that the it had been a mistake and we had to check ourselves with reception . The breakfast was good and well cooked but the service a little slow . Overall there are better options. In the local area and I told reception we would not be coming back any time soon .

It was our first stay and we will definitely consider a return. The downside was the extra cost for the taxi to and from the train station in Darlington as it’s about a15/20 minute drive to get there. It looks like the perfect venue for a wedding, one was happening during our stay and it looked fantastic. The staff were very good and we had a lovely Sunday lunch. Another slight issue was the noise in the annex building rooms, doors slamming, and expel air as well as conversations could be heard from the adjoining rooms as the walls are very thin. However, overall it was a great overnight stay and subsequent perfect family Sunday lunch. We will definitely return at some point in the future and will recommend it to friends. The wedding package looked fantastic at a very good price and I would recommend it to anyone planning one to check it out.

Once you get over the awe of the castle as you come through the gates then unfortunately the rooms in the annex are a real let down, the walls are paper thin and well overdue decorating. The food in the restaurant is preprepared then microwaved to within an inch of its life when you order it, same for the breakfast. Nice friendly staff save the day.

Lovely hotel but noisy
I stayed here the other night for an overnight business trip, and I must say the location and the quickness of the hotel is beautiful! The service and the staff were excellent and incredibly polite. The evening meal and breakfast was also great! My only nitpick would be the noisiness of room 25 in which I stayed. I think there is an air-conditioning unit outside the window, which made quite a deep, humming noise, making may struggle to sleep. Aside from that it was nice and I would definitely return!

Good venue but bath water was very dirty/discoloured with floating bits despite running it 3 times. Was reported to staff so hopefully they will investigate.

Lovely Hotel
We stayed one night while visiting family nearby, we were greeted warmly at reception and provided with information about the hotel and our stay. The room was comfortable and clean and the facilities to a good standard. This is a very old building and as such some aspects were either a little dated or in need of sprucing up. But having said that there was nothing to dislike about the hotel. Staff were always really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The surroundings were beautiful. And the price was very reasonable. I would be happy to stay again.

Beautiful property and a lovely room. Fresh milk provided for coffee when asked Bed was hard (and we have a firm mattress at home!) and only one shower gel provided for the two of us.
