Beautiful old Monastery

Posted 18-May-2017
Pros: Location to The Leaning Tower
Cons: Breakfast room and help with your bags as there is no lift
Location: The location is brillant and everything you want to see plus restaurants and shops are only two streets away.
Friendly receptionist, but didn't remember reading anything about no lift and we where three floors up. The room was quirky with a sloping roof, but very clean with a good ensuite bathroom. The breakfast was ok, but the breakfast room was not very pleasant. The location to The Leaning Tower was the reason I chose this hotel as it was just round the corner. It's €9 a night to park your car in the street outside.

An Ideal Location

Posted 02-May-2017
Pros: The hotel is charming, both architecturally and in its eclectic contents and has been sensitively brought up to modern standards.
Cons: Noise carried easily from the room above, but that is probably a feature of the age of the building. Breakfast was quite basic and DIY, but adequate.
Location: All the attractions are an easy walk including the river and more commercial south side. Further afield Lucca and Florence are easy day trips.
Pisa is not a big city and transferring from the airport to the hotel by bus took less than an hour. Alighting at the Piazza Manin and passing through the gate of the city wall and you are greeted by the Piazza dei Miracoli with its stunning buildings stretching out before you, the Baptistery, the Duomo and peeping out behind like a 12th century comedy character is the campanile, better known as the Leaning Tower. If this doesn't bring a smile to your face you must have a heart somewhat harder than the stone the tower is constructed from. Literally a couple of minutes walk beyond the Leaning Tower you will find the Casa San Tommaso, ideally situated to explore the bustling heart of this fantastic city, but away from the noise and traffic you would normally associate with such a central position.

Quiet, old hotel

Posted 16-Mar-2017
The hotel was in a quiet area, about 10 minutes walk from the leaning tower. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was good, pastries, juice, yoghurt, toast, fresh croissants each morning, restaurants nearby. All you need for a short break in Pisa, train station nearby to travel around.

not stellar, but ok

Posted 02-Mar-2017 on Hotels
a five minute walk from the city s sights, the hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the train station and not easy to find. as pisa is a city done as a day trip for most, its level of accommodations and cusine for that matter are not up to italian standards. breakfast needs improvement: i can not recall any italian meal without fresh fruit, and the one and only toaster has one speed very very slow. no lift.. there are at least 17 steps if you do not get a room on the first floor. tv in room is from the 1950s

Good value

If your looking for a good value , basic, rustic accomadation close to the leaning tower then book here. Service was friendly and professional and it was perhaps the cleanest place i have ever stayed it despite its age. Breakfast was ok and on par with price paid.

One night stay

Posted 30-Dec-2016
I returned to Pisa for a one night stay and it was a good stay. For me it was good enough for the night so that I could have caught my flight the next day. By the way it is a little way from the airport. The area seems to be safe as I got in after 9pm and not much was happening in terms of people traffic on the street. I used google maps while walking from Pisa Centrale to help me find the place. Took me about half hour as I walked slowly. Hard to say how it would be if you are driving. The room is spacious enough for one person. The toiletries were enough for a night. The bed was comfy. I didn't figure out the heating system which looks a little outdated so I had a cold room. That's my fault, I was too tired to ask for assistance but the blanket kept me warm. Breakfast was a bit plain with cake, bread, jam, croissant and a coffee/milk/chocolate machine. I liked the machine as it made really hot drinks. The breakfast area is heated so you won't be in a chilly area of the hotel. The breakfast room is the "backyard" of the place but covered with tarpaulin and had two heating mushroom looking devices. Check in and out were a breeze. I got a room on the lobby floor which was great for me. No steps to climb. If you get a lobby floor room, remember to close your curtains as mine was opened while I changed. The room faces a side street. Luckily no traffic so hopefully no one was lurking.

Perfect location

Room was basic but very comfortable. Good bed - which is very important to me. Bathroom good except for very small shower. Breakfast was basic but provided everything you needed.
