The hotel was clearly at capacity as the Westminster was closed for refurbishment.
We had paid for a superior room with bay view so it was disappointing to find the windows/glass balcony so dirty the view was obscured.
The shower tray didn’t drain properly when we arrived and we reported this when we went down for dinner. The following morning it took seconds to flood the entire bathroom and a plumber, who was charming was on site in minutes. The entire shower outlet was blocked which necessitated drain cleaner to be poured down. Finally, after showering it transpired the hairdryer was faulty and continually cut out after 10 seconds. Sadly, my request for a replacement from reception was ignored and a fellow guest across the hallway gave me hers.
When we finalised the bill Lydia Launay, head of reception authorised a €50 reduction which was a kind gesture but overall didn’t really compensate for the upset and inconvenience caused to our return journey.
