It’s conveniently located just a short walk from the centre of the family-friendly “car-free” village of Wengen. This apartment sleeps 4 - 5 people: Bedroom 1 = 1 double king-size bed Bedroom 2 = 1 bunk bed, 1 single pull-out bed All beds are European sizes. Bathroom 1 = bathtub with shower overhead and WC Bathroom 2 = shower and WC Apartment location - being just a 300m walk from the train station, 250m to the nearest supermarket and 400m to the cable car and nursery ski slopes, mountain hiking trails and ski areas are just a few steps away! This cosy and homely 2-level apartment is on the 1st floor and garden levels of the Chalet Schweizerhof. Stunning views of the Breithorn, Tschingelhorn and Lobhorn mountains from the spacious and peaceful, west-facing balcony provide a magnificent backdrop to the chalet-style décor. Upstairs is the open-plan living / dining / kitchen area as well as a full bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped for all your culinary needs, and you can prepare traditional Swiss favourites with the cheese fondue set or raclette grill. While busy in the kitchen, everyone can stay entertained with free Wi-Fi, cable TV and a large selection of books, board games and DVDs. Downstairs is the master bedroom with a king-size bed and the second bedroom with a bunk bed with a single trundle bed underneath. There is also a shower room and access to a west-facing terrace. Note that the washing machine and tumble dryer are in the chalet's shared laundry area outside the apartment. There is also the added convenience of a communal heated ski and boot room to keep your ski equipment warm and dry. There is a large multi-storey car park at Lauterbrunnen train station, with trolleys for your luggage and lifts to the station platforms. It is just a 14-minute scenic cog train ride up to Wengen. The trains depart every 30 minutes until 9.30 pm and then hourly. Taxis are available for hire at Wengen train station if you require assistance to your chalet. For those planning to explore the Jungfrau region, we at Wengen Apartments offer the convenience of purchasing tickets on your behalf. Please contact us before your arrival to arrange this service. The 2nd bedroom contains 1 bunk bed and 1 pull-out bed which are more suitable for children than adults. There is also a new sofa bed in the living room. As part of your booking, a mandatory non-refundable damage waiver of CHF 35 is required. Having two bathrooms was a real plus. The kitchen has everything you need. Proximity to the station was an important point. We had excellent weather so spent our days out in the beautiful area. The property was exactly as pictured, and was perfectly clean. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the evenings, having a glass of wine while listening to the chorus of cowbells all around us. We couldn’t get the AC to work, but we did not reach out to the property mgmt about it- we just opened the windows at night. The location was very easy, just a few minutes walk from the train station and coop (grocery). We cooked many of our dinners at the property, and found the kitchen perfectly equipped. There is a nespresso for coffee. Overall, the apartment was plenty spacious for 2 adults. The property mgmt office was also very convenient, about a block away from the train station. We spoke with 2 people there, who were both very friendly and accommodating. Wengen was the perfect home base for us and our hiking/sightseeing around the Bernese oberland region. We used the Berner oberland pass, which covered every train/gondola/boat in the region. We left a pair of hiking poles for future guests to use. It only took us within 15 minutes to get inside the apartment from the train station We have no problem to do our cooking. A small issue is the Wi-Fi.
