Lovely position but needs urgent updating

We booked two rooms for the last weekend of the Blackpool illuminations. The hotel is well placed near a tram stop on the north of Blackpool and is an imposing big old Edwardian building on the seafront. The public rooms are impressive and reasonably well maintained but the bedrooms are less impressive. The family room booked for my daughter was OK & quite spacious but our 'executive' room was very basic - a threequarter size bed squeezed against the wall on one side, no bedside tables, a single headboard and furniture past its best. We did get the sea view we requested which was great. Admittedly the price we paid reflected the very popular weekend we chose but we did not feel the hotel reflected good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful and we did have a great time with the family seeing the lights but it's a shame to see a lovely old hotel neglected.
