Traffic noise all night

Posted 30-Aug-2016
Pros: Spacious rooms
Cons: Attention to detail, customer focus, restaurant quality and service
Location: Brockholes is a surprising treat.
Rooms spacious and comfy but no air con and the hotel is right by the M6 and A59 so traffic noise is constant, worsened by needing windows open in warmer weather. Advertises as a Scottish Steakhouse as a restaurant and so cooking steaks well would be the first order, i wasn't the only one to send my steak back and if i had to eat there again i would order off another part of the menu.

Handy for business use

Posted 05-Aug-2016
Pros: easy of access from motorway for quick stop over
Cons: staff attitude
slightly disappointing as there was no shower / shampoo in my room and on checkout I mentioned to staff at desk who said he would pass onto house keeping but there was no apology

Convenient location but dated hotel

Not quite to the usual standard of a Macdonald hotel. Rooms are in need of refurbishment and bedding smelt of cigarette smoke

very nice hotel

Posted 21-Jul-2016
Pros: everything
Location: the location was ideal for us as we were attending a wedding just up the road and its just off the motorway.
check in was very good,my wife has just had a knee replacement and the young lady on reception swapped our room around so that we were on the ground floor and close to reception all of the staff were so helpful.

Overnight stay

Posted 10-Jul-2016
We were looking for an overnight stay on a long journey north and this hotel fit the bill. Close to the M6 but we were not disturbed by traffic noise at all and had a good night's sleep. Nearby is a Costa, Subway and a Nisa store if you need to stock up. The room was spacious and comfortable. We would definitely use this hotel again.

Pleasant stay

We found the staff very friendly, enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast (cooked freshly) served by a lovely gentleman. Only thing that was disappointing was the poor lighting in the room for reading in bed.

I don't rate this hotel as highly as others

Posted 26-Jun-2016 on Hotels
The hotel looks a little run down from the exterior and this was reflected in the room I stayed in. My room had the worst view ever over a flat roof with air conditioning units directly in the line of vision. This is all that could be seen from the room. The bathroom needed refurbishing - the shower grout was blackened and a part of one of the taps was missing. Some of the wooden furniture was worn in appearance - overall the room felt old fashioned, a bit shabby and not 100% clean. On the plus side the bed was huge and very comfortable, there were good amenities in the room such as ironing board and iron and the breakfast was good, with very acceptable decor in the main areas of the hotel and polite service. I got my room for a good rate, which included breakfast, and I suspect I was therefore given one of the worst rooms. The quality of my room really put me off the hotel and although It wasn't a completely horrible stay, I will definitely choose somewhere else next time I'm in the area.

Convenient, good breakfast, some minor niggles

Posted 08-Jun-2016 on Hotels
Housekeeping forgot to provide towels and there was only one tea bag that was caffeine free. The extractor fan didn't work in the bathroom. However, great breakfast, comfy bed and lovely receptionist who resolved the towels and teabags problem.
