Mooi hotel met klassieke uitstraling

Posted 29-Jul-2016

Pros:
Location:

Great views

Cons: Beds have very hard mattresses.
Hotel location across road from railway station. Lake facing rooms have magnificent views of Lake Leman and mountains. Hotel old but well remodelled internally.

One of the best hotels in Switzerland

Posted 01-May-2016 on Hotels
For someone like me who isn’t a fan of service in Switzerland, this hotel really is the exception to the rule. I’ve been there twice already, and will be back for sure. The staff is attentive, extremely professional and courteous. The service is top notch and very optimized at anytime of day or night. For our last visit, my friend and I checked in late at night, and the process took all together less than 5 minutes before we were handed our room keys. This is in contrast to the typical hotel clerc who is half hibernating behind the reception desk and makes you wait and wait some more before your records can be located… The Grand Majestic offers rooms with balconies and terraces. The first time I booked, my girlfriend and I got a room with a terrace on the fourth floor. Our experience was one of listening to jazz music, sipping a read Bordeaux and for my part, smoking a cuban cigar. Add this to the atmosphere of a warm summer night with a majestic view of the lake and the mountains, and you can be sure you will be wanting to repeat the experience over and over. This hotel has a true charm of its own and there is no better place to do justice to what Montreux has to offer.

The hotel is located in an excellent area - near the train station and right on the lake. It's very well kept and clean.

Four day wind-down after skiing

Posted 12-Mar-2016 on Hotels
Grand Suisse Hotel was fantastic. Our days were spent taking long walks - in either direction - along the lake and then returning to our hotel room to relax looking across to the snow covered French Alps and feeding little birds on our balcony. Evening - went to 'Funky Claude's Jazz Bar' to listen to live music. Meals and drinks were very expensive - because of our weak exchange rate - so we got creative and bought croissants and cheese (for example) from the local Co-Op. Hotel's dining facility is superb however.
