Nice idea for a luxurious resort but it soon gets complicated however. You are really far away from everything and the little golf cars you need to use for everything are very very old. Annoying things like you get charged 13 dollars for plain water did not help either. Since you are secluded inside this huge complex, there are none other available choices around but pay that or go thirsty. Worst, the quality of the food is not up to the cost or expectations. Bland and ordinary. Staff is very friendly but the charm this place must have is lost in the prices and unnecessary complications similar to the cheaper all-inclusive joints. You need to reserve for dinners for example even if the place is empty. The beach is very nice looking but the sand turns to a gravel-like floor once you step into the water! More for looking than anything else. Go to Cancun!
I have travelled extensively and this resort impressed me with the consistent and beautiful design, great landscape, attention to detail and great customer service. It is a very large resort consisting of many private properties and public areas full of restaurants, shops, hotel, beach and yacht marina. Highly recommended for couples, honeymoon and place to relax in luxury.
The food, hotel staff and service was excellent!! I traveled alone and had a great room with a pool view.
My only complaint is that I the electronic device that gives room access did not work. I had to re-activate my room key 3-5 times daily for the duration of my two week vacation. This was not only an inconvenience but a security issue. The General Manager Miguel was rude, condescending and actually called me a 'liar' when I finally met with him in person on my 9th day of vacation. I will be following up with the hotel corporate offices.
Other than that, I would recommend this property to anyone!! The resort was great, the beach had plenty of shade and the food and drinks were endless!!
Very peaceful place, with friendly staff. A humble environment, makes you feel like you're at some relative's beach house. You can sleep all day if you want and you will not be disturbed. Everything is clean and simple. There is a very nice pool which is usually empty for you. You can grab a a bike (for free) and go for a spin around town.
Everything is different from big hotels where I sometimes feel like treated as an intruder.
Home to several luxury resorts and championship golf courses, La Romana is set on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic, near La Romana International Airport. Visitors flock to Altos de Chavon, a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean village complete with a 5,000-seat Roman-style amphitheater. 10 miles east, Bayahibe's pristine Caribbean beaches draw scuba divers from around the world.
