Very peaceful place, with friendly staff. A humble environment, makes you feel like you're at some relative's beach house. You can sleep all day if you want and you will not be disturbed. Everything is clean and simple. There is a very nice pool which is usually empty for you. You can grab a a bike (for free) and go for a spin around town.
Everything is different from big hotels where I sometimes feel like treated as an intruder.
I stayed at Be Live Canoa in January 2016 with my honey for our 20 year anniversary. It is just what it is described to be: an all inclusive resort in a beautiful tropical location. The grounds were beautifully landscaped, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Even though English is not their first language, most staff spoke some English and we were able to convey what we needed. They are all multi lingual, switching to English, French or German as needed. It was quite impressive.
Every day there was a list of activities going on mainly at the pool and beach area. These were things like learn to dance, aerobics, and games like water polo or pool volleyball. There is also kayaking, parasailing and other water sports as well. The hotel offered excursions, and there is no shortage of people scattered around the property approaching you and trying to get you to take an excursion. It felt a little invasive at first, but if you tell them in the beginning that you're not interested, they leave you alone. But you may have 4-5 different people approaching you to take their excursion. Same thing with the people trying to get you to upgrade to VIP. But again, they leave you alone if you tell them you're not interested.
The food is incredible. There is a buffet with all types of food and restaurants as well. All included! Plus all you can drink as well The nightly shows were amazing and we looked forward to them every night. All in all, it was a great getaway..
I have travelled extensively and this resort impressed me with the consistent and beautiful design, great landscape, attention to detail and great customer service. It is a very large resort consisting of many private properties and public areas full of restaurants, shops, hotel, beach and yacht marina. Highly recommended for couples, honeymoon and place to relax in luxury.
Hostal Silvestre is a very nice property near the Metroplex. The staff is very warm and friendly. We didn't speak Spanish as well as we would have liked, but their staff took the time to make sure they understood our requests. Very considerate and most appreciated.
Upon check-in I inquired about breakfast and was told between 8:00 and 10:am on the terrace. Had a late night, slept in and thought that I missed out, at 10:05 am I hear a knock at the door, They brought breakfast to my room, WOW! Second and Third morning as well of my 3 night stay, awesome. The Staff here make you feel right at home, also arranged affordable tours for FREE! nice. Left money in my wallet in the room along with laptop, gadgets etc. and nothing ever went missing. Felt quite safe here too, I will surely stay here again just because of the way the staff treat you. Thanks again for my enjoyable stay, Hotel Karma.

Bayahibe Playa and Caleta Beach is only 10 min away We are located in the center of the city of La Romana and 15 minutes from …More
We arrived to smiling faces and nice accommodations. The check in process was painless and the area clean secure and nicely decorated. The apartment was stocked with dishes and a few other things. Although we did not use them or the cook top stove while at the apartment, it looked sufficient for basic cooking needs.
The bed and the sofa sleeper were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the water hot and refreshing.
The only negative was not the hotels fault.... It seems that roosters around the area are attempting to set records for earliest to crow and the first one to crow is answered by a dozen more seemingly applauding him for his 3 am attempt to get the sun to rise early...
Again, quite enjoyable and comfortable.
Home to several luxury resorts and championship golf courses, La Romana is set on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic, near La Romana International Airport. Visitors flock to Altos de Chavon, a replica of a 16th-century Mediterranean village complete with a 5,000-seat Roman-style amphitheater. 10 miles east, Bayahibe's pristine Caribbean beaches draw scuba divers from around the world.
